•Strömsund is well known for it´s wilderness with many wild animals, a high-density of bears and big mooses and many lakes with fish like trout and char.

•Havsnäs Windfarm is Sweden's largest onshore wind farm with 48 turbines. Havsnäs Windfarm is located 30 kilometre north of Strömsund.

•Hjalmar Strömer school has since 2007 a 2-year advanced vocational training for Wind Power Technicians.

•Wind Power Center in Hammerdal works with Enterprise and Labor Isseus in the county of Jämtland.

LIA = Learn at work

After the education the students can work with

• Electrical- safety in Wind Power Plants,

• Safety on heights, in cold climate and with not much space.

• Service, Operation and Maintenance of Wind Power Plants in Sweden and abroad.

• Technical tasks in the assembly and adjustment work

• Common errors in Wind Farms

• Basic investigation and information data, for example in Wind Power Project Office

• Control tasks in other Electrical installations, for example Water Power System.

Work & Safety-courseSafety is a very important part during the whole education

In addition to comprehensive training in Occupational and Electrical Safety, the education starts with “Basic Safety “ at heights . All students must in the beginning of the program have an approved Medical Certificate for work at heights.

The course included Laws and Regulations and to learn how to use Fall Protection-, Rescue- and Evacuation Equipment in right way in theory and practice.

The safety program also includes Risk analysis, Work in the heating & cooling, Hot work, Lift technique, First Aid -Heart- and Lung Rescuing and to take care of accidents.

Basic eligibility for education at university level and with certificate in Swedish A & B, English A, Computer Knowledge and Mathematics A from upper secondary school.
