WNB #6

How are the friendships you had when you were in elementary school different from the friendships that you have now? Are they different at all? Describe those friendships in detail and explain how they relate to each other.

OR…

Describe one act of kindness you’ve observed or done in the past week or two. What was it for? If you were the one who did it, why did you do it?

Pashtun vs. Hazara

The Kite Runner chapters 1-2

This is an intense and mature book, and I'm expecting

you to be extremely mature.

Chapter 1 is going to open much later AFTER the

main story has already taken place. Our main

character, Amir, is struggling with something that

happened many years earlier but still haunts him as an

adult.

In chapter 2, he will flashback to his childhood in the

early 1970s.

The Kite Runner chapters 1-2

•Remember that the Hazara people are cruelly

discriminated against by many of the Pashtun

people.

•What happens to Amir and Hassan when they are

out walking is evidence of this.

•Our author, Khaled Hosseini, is purposely crude in

this chapter because he wants his readers to see how

horribly the Pashtuns treat the Hazaras.

Let’s read chapters 1-2 together.

Please follow along in your book as we

listen.

You will need to write down three questions

you have as we listen. These can be

things you wonder or need clarity on,

etc.
