From the Pastor’s Desk
Trinity Sunday As we gather together as a parish family today, we look to the Most Holy Trinity to help us live our lives as
members of our biological families and as members of the family of the Church. The perfect union between Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit, three distinct Persons, yet only ONE GOD, is challenging for us to comprehend, yet the Trinity
offers us an example of complete mutual trust, cooperation, love, obedience and devotion. God the Father, who created
the universe and all things in it, together with God the Son who redeemed the world by his suffering, death and
resurrection, and God the Holy Spirit, who continues to teach us and advocate on our behalf, are always at work – to-
gether – sanctifying the world and all of us in it.
Let us consider how we live the example of trust, cooperation, love, obedience and devotion in our personal
relationships with God, our family, and our parish. Are there ways in which we can improve those relationships? Are
there any relationships in my life that need healing, strengthening, forgiveness? Take some time to pray for the courage,
humility, and confidence to seek reconciliation with God, with others, and even with yourself!
We don’t try to solve the Paschal Mystery; we attempt to live it! We believe and profess that through his
Passion, Death, Resurrection and Ascension into Heaven, together with the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, we
have been saved from sin and death. Our real home is in Heaven and we live each day anticipating our eternal life in the
presence of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We don’t need to fully understand the dogma of the Trinity, only attempt to
live it – in union with God the Father, our Creator; God the Son, our Redeemer; God the Holy Spirit, our Comforter and
Advocate.
Congratulations, Deacon Gianni! We wish to thank and congratulate our fellow parishioner, Gianni DiPaolo, on his ordination as a Deacon for
service in our parish and the Archdiocese of New York. We also congratulate his wife Natalie and daughters Alyssa,
Aviva, and Arianna and thank them for sharing the gift of their husband and father with us! As time goes on, Gianni’s
responsibilities will become clearer and his service much appreciated.
In one part of the Ordination Rite, the new deacons are presented with the Book of the Gospels. With that
presentation, the Cardinal says to the newly ordained: “Receive the Gospel of Christ, whose herald you now are.
Believe what you read, teach what you believe, practice what you teach.” These beautiful words remind Gianni, and
in fact all of us, of our call to serve after the example of Jesus. In the name of all our wonderful parishioners, I pray that
Gianni’s ministry will be filled with and a source of many blessings for our parish! God bless, brother!
