Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Creation of Scientific and Educational
Complex (SEC) in Nauchnyi Village of Shortandy Raion
of Akmola oblast
(International Agricultural Research Center, IARC)
Astana, 2011
Aim and Objectives of IARC
Mission of agrarian science – to create a scientific and technological basis for:
1) multiple increase in labor productivity
2) production of competitive produce to enhance export potential
3) ensuring food safety and reducing dependance on foreign suppliers of agricultural produce and technologies
Creation of trans-disciplinary scientific and educational complex of international level with the purpose of creation of new system of generation and introduction of knowledge in sphere of AIC with results, complying to the best world analogues
Conducting fundamental and applied research
Ensuring functioning of modern technological platforms of open typePreserving natural and genetic resources
Implementation of highly qualified experimental works
Training / upgrading qualification of academic staff and faculty
Implementation of innovations and knowledge dissemination

New scientific directions (genome breeding, phytopathology,...): developing national competence → enhancing quality of applied scientificresearch and design and experimental works (SRDEW) →competitive innovations → private investments to SRDEWEfficient transfer of technologies: complicated experiments → understanding of reasons and common factors of studied processes →successful adaptation to local conditionsAcceleration of breeding process: in plant growing — from 8-12 to 3-4 years → appropriate variety changing → competitive varieties withpredetermined properties; in livestock farming — genetic evaluation of productivity → targeted inheriting of desired properties.
International recognition: participation in international research programs → publications with high IF → foreign patents
