“very contemporary” should feel fresh, modern, edgy...

It’s about love being the person on the inside.

The current refugee situation could be referenced or used as a launch pad.

Ethnically mixed cast (eg Viola could be from Africa - but this is not definite)Cast quite young

Viola mourning for her twin an important driver for the plot.

Key images of this might be the shipwreck, the idea of things being ripped apart.

- things that are broken being put back together- finding home and your soulmate- blurred lines (eg gender)

About perspective; it’s one thing if you look at it one way, and another from a different angle.

The strongest visual reference the sculpture of Bruno Catalano

some are born great

The blue colour indicating the sea but also the theme of sadness of Orsino’s unrequited love for Olivia.

The word ‘Night’ upside down suggesting the lives of the characters are transformed by the arrival of Viola in the country.

Wave design indicating the near drowning that starts the play.

Image of ship suggesting the shipwreck that brings the twins to Illyria.

The female and males outlines superimposed links with the theme of mistaken identity running through the play.

The quote from the letter to Malvolio links with the theme of fate which affects many of the characters.
