Dress for Success Indianapolis Winter 2013 Newsletter Professional Women's Group (PWG) Graduates Seventh Class On December 2, 2013, Dress for Success Indianapolis celebrated the successes of our seventh class of Professional Women's Group graduates. This event was held at our 2013 PWG Sponsor's office, Fifth Third Bank. Over 50 supporters and PWG members joined us in honoring the graduates. All 11 of the graduating members joined the group in 2012- 2013, actively pursued their own personal and professional development and attended at least nine meetings to graduate into Lifelong membership. Each member accomplished a significant benchmark during her first year of membership such as seeking higher education, obtaining and maintaining employment, opening bank accounts and buying a new home. Many of the members achieved multiple personal and professional goals. All of the women have become role models for motivation and significant personal transformation. Each graduate received a gift from Dress for Success Indianapolis, a pearl necklace symbolizing the beauty that can come from a small grain of hope held deep inside. The keynote speaker for the 2013 graduation was Scenario Adebesin, Senior Vice President, Community & Economic Development for Fifth Third Bank, who shared with our women her own journey to success. Photography for the event was generously donated by Faith Blackwell Photography. PWG Graduation was also combined with the annual PWGHoliday Party. After celebrating the graduation of their 'Sistersin Success' fellow PWG members gathered for refreshments, fellowship and a small gift exchange. Professional Women's Group (PWG) was launched in May 2006.The members call each other Sisters in Success, indicating thatthey celebrate accomplishments together and support eachother in times of need. Each member comes through our Suitsfor Success program or Career Development Center programand joins PWG when she starts working. PWG members attendmonthly meetings for one year and then graduate into lifelongmembership. The monthly meetings offer opportunities toshare a warm meal, network with sister members, discusscareer and life goals and learn from a professional speaker.Lifelong membership allows the women to give back to PWG byassuming leadership roles within the group and spending moreconcentrated time on planning meeting topics they find helpfulto attain self-defined success. Topics for each monthly eveningmeeting include written and un-written rules of the workplace,work/life balance and personal finance.
