Brass Baron sculptures are made by hand in the ancient cire per due, or lost wax, method. Artistic and labor intensive, this meticulous process builds ultimate value into every Brass Baron creation.

Even in simple terms, lost wax casting is a complex process. A mold is first created from an original sculpture. A hollow casting is poured in wax and the wax impression is removed and refined. Once encased, inside and out, in a clay mold, the wax impression is kiln-fired. The wax melts out, and is . . . lost. The resulting void is then filled with molten brass. Once hardened, the brass casting is removed from the mold. It is buffed, polished and patinized to give the piece its finished bronze appearance.

The artistic handcrafting of our elegant sculptures builds subtle variations in color, finish, size and shape into each piece. Every Brass Baron creation is ultimately unique.

The Brass Baron offers traditional reproductions and original designs. This catalogue represents our core collection, normally stocked for immediate shipment. Brass Baron pond sculptures are ideal in “Pondless” installations, where an in-ground basin contains the recirculating water and pump, and the spouting statue rests atop the camouflaged cover. Pebble or rock designs of choice take the place of a pond’s exposed water surface, which minimizes safety and maintenance concerns. Our underground reservoirs are a creative and beautiful way to design a complete pondless water feature using a variety of Brass Baron spouting sculptures.
