Welcome to the Miss Arkansas Diamond State Princess/Prince Program (DSP)! We are excited to have you as a part of our upcoming Miss Arkansas Pageant to be held July 3-9, 2016 in Hot Springs. This year we are excited to have 45 young women competing for the title of Miss Arkansas.

We are equally as excited that you have chosen to be a part of such an

outstanding opportunity in our Princess/Prince Program. You will have many

memorable experiences this summer. Who knows, we may have a future

Miss Arkansas or Miss America in our group! The goal of this program is to

introduce the young people across our state to the Miss America Organization

is the largest scholarship provider for women in the world. The Miss Arkansas

Pageant proudly awards over $80,000 in scholarships and awards each

summer.

The Diamond State Princess/Prince Program will again this year accompany

the contestants on-stage during competition and at the arrival ceremony as

well as other events throughout the Miss Arkansas week. We are also excited

that our Diamond State Princess/Prince Class 2016 will have an opportunity to

spend time with our current Miss Arkansas 2015 Loren McDaniel. This is an

incredible opportunity for our princess/prince class 2016 to meet an amazing

young woman who has done so much for our state and the Miss Arkansas

Pageant this past year. Not to mention spending time with local titleholders

who want to be Miss Arkansas 2016. We look forward to seeing you this

summer in Hot Springs!

Diamond State Princess and Prince

Dear Diamond State Princess/Prince,

Congratulations!! As a Diamond State Princess/Prince, you have been selected to take

part in the prestigious 2016 Miss Arkansas Pageant. This is a wonderful way to get a

behind the scenes view of what it takes to represent the state of Arkansas. We will stage

our pageant production at Bank of the Ozarks Arena in beautiful Hot Springs, AR on July

3-9, 2016.

This information packet will give you information that will help you and your child make

good lifetime memories and have a wonderful experience. Please read the manual

carefully, fill out all required forms included in this information packet and use the

checklist at the end to make sure your application is complete. Girls or boys desiring to

be a Diamond State Princess/Prince and do not have a Miss contestant to escort are

invited to participate. We will assign the DSP to a Miss contestant. We are looking

forward to having you in Hot Springs during Miss Arkansas Pageant week! The DSP

Director and Committee names are listed below. If you have any questions or need

assistance, please feel free to contact one of the DSP Committee listed below. Thanks for

Diamond State Princess/Prince General Information

The Miss Arkansas Diamond State Princess/Prince program is for young ladies and gentlemen ages 5-12

(copy of birth certificate will be required) at the time of application for the state pageant on July 3-9,

2016. Miss Arkansas will be held at Hot Springs Convention Center, Bank of Ozarks Arena. Miss Arkansas

competitions is: Arrival Sunday, July 3th, Night 1, Local Preliminary Wednesday, July 6; Night 2, Local

Preliminary Thursday, July 7; Night 3, Local Preliminary Friday, July 8; and Final Night Crowning Miss

Arkansas 2016 Saturday, July 9, 2016. The purpose of this program is to mentor the young ladies who

have an interest in competing someday in the Miss Arkansas Pageant. The Miss Arkansas Titleholders

will mentor the young men who have an opportunity to share the fun of the week and escort his Miss

Contestant all week.

The pageant this summer will feature the Princesses/Princes as part of production number on

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening with Loren McDaniel, Miss Arkansas 2015. All

Princesses/Princes will participate in the evening wear production with their Miss Titleholder /Mentor,

as well as an onstage production number during the three (3) preliminary nights. The Princesses are

asked to wear their crown at all Miss Arkansas sponsored events and the Princes are asked to wear

their medallions. A complete working schedule will be forwarded to you once times have been finalized

for all events and rehearsals.

Each Diamond State Princess is to provide her own white dress (long or short-age appropriate) for

evening wear with their Miss Titleholder. A DSP Prince is to provide their own black tuxedo/suit.

CONFIRMATION PACKET IS RECEIVED: After you mail your complete DSP packet by WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23, 2016 to the DSP Director. You will receive a confirmation email your packet was received. Place the email address below in your computer email address book to allow emails from the DSP Director:

The Miss Arkansas DSP program has two groups set up on Facebook for you. We have a

general DSP group that will give your friends and family Miss Arkansas information all

year long. The DSP Class 2016 group is for registered DSP's for that year. They are the

"Class of 2016". This group will get specific information for events and activities. After

your year in the DSPClass you will be moved to the overall general group and then a

new class will be set up for the next year.

COMMUNICATION TO CLASS VIA FACEBOOK

If you (your child) is a DSP CLASS MEMBER: A class member is a DSP that has submitted

paperwork, DSP registration payment and will be in the group participating in the Miss

Arkansas Pageant that year. After the DSP Director receives the DSP application you

will be placed in the Secret Facebook group for communication purposes by the DSP

Director/Committee.

DSP CROWN CAMP (OPTIONAL)

Production is in the planning stage. The dance songs have not been determined at this

time; however, you will be notified. The DSP Committee may hold an additional “all day”

practice APRIL 16, 2016. The DSP Crown Camp date and place is:

Crown Camp - April 16, 2016 - 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Lunch on your own - you will be able to leave for lunch.

Dance City Studio - 2212 Malvern Ave, Ste 6, Hot Springs, AR Wear comfortable clothing Wear Tennis shoes or jazz shoes. Bring heels for white dress or Dress shoes or the shoes for the Prince Suit, if you have them.

ATTENDANCE WILL BE OPTIONAL. The DSP Crown Camp will be a day of instruction, fun,

and information. You will learn all you need to know to be prepared for Miss Arkansas

DSP week. You will get to learn the DSP production numbers and who knows maybe a

"Star" will be born. The DSP will get to meet the others in their Class. You will have time

to meet other parents with a DSP. An Orientation will give you information on what to

expect during the Miss Arkansas Week. The Community Service project will be

announced, practice and production attire discussion, etc. If a DSP cannot attend the

Orientation Crown Camp we will have practice during the week to prepare for

production. There will also be a video on line for your convenience.

REHERSALS:

The outfits for the dances will be determined based on the song choices. We will let

you know as soon as we know the song choices. Please take into consideration which

shoes your child will be wearing for the on stage. We ask that they are flat,

comfortable shoes. MORE DETAILS TO COME......

Rehearsals during the week are very casual; you will have a schedule of activity and attire

to wear to rehearsal. As part to the DSP program we are fortunate to have great Miss

Arkansas sponsors that help provide the Miss Titleholder's t-shirts of the day. We thank

all volunteers and sponsors that assist us. Like the big girls (Local Titleholders) the DSP

Princess and Prince will receive a t-shirt(s) to wear to the rehearsals during the week.

The auditorium is cold during rehearsals, so some type of sweater or jacket would be

advisable. Layering clothing is suggested for varying degrees of warmth.

PRINCESS/PRINCE CROWNING: Sunday July 3, 2016 Arrival

Miss Arkansas Contestants Arrival Ceremony is Sunday July 3, 2016 starts at 2:00 pm. The

DSP will participate in the Miss Arkansas Arrival Ceremonies at Horner Hall in the Hot

Springs Convention Center and should arrive by 1:00 PM for Arrival and DSP preparations.

Specific reporting locations to meet will be announced later through your 2016DSPCLASS

FB group. There will be a Princess Crowning and Prince Medallion presentation by Miss

Arkansas as the Titleholder is announced. The MAP DSP Class 2016 will be introduced on

stage with her Mentor-Titleholder, crowned by Miss Arkansas 2015 Loren McDaniel and

will have a group photo.DSP Class Group shots will also occur before/after the Arrival

ceremony. More details will follow.

MISCELLANOUS:

All Diamond State Princesses/Princes and their families are responsible for their housing

and meals during the pageant activities in Hot Springs. Check the Miss Arkansas Website

News tab for hotel information at: www.missarkansas.org/news

Danny Barger, owners of You’ve Got the Look Photography will be with us during the Miss

Arkansas Pageant Week Activities, including all Diamond State Princess/Prince events. He

will make available to you order forms for one of the You've Got the Look Memory Books

featuring the Diamond State Princess/Prince and each of the girls/boys. Contact

There will be a special page in the 2016 Miss Arkansas Pageant Program Book devoted to

the Diamond State Princess/Prince. The deadline for this form and the required photo

will be MARCH 23, 2016 , placed on a CD and put in the DSP packet.

Statement of Understanding

As parent/guardian of _______________________________, we are hereby submitting her/his application to the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant for approval by the state pageant Executive Director. We agree to conduct ourselves at all times in a professional manner as to not embarrass our daughter/son in the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant. We will ensure that our daughter/son will conduct herself/himself in the proper manner at all times. We further understand that it is at the sole discretion of the state pageant director when an invitation will be extended to the princess/prince to attend various activities within the local pageant jurisdiction with the local titleholder including the extent of the involvement of the princess/prince in the production number(s) at the local pageant. The director’s decision will be based in whole or in part on whether the function is age appropriate and how beneficial it is to the mentoring process of the princess/prince. We understand that the Diamond State Princess/Prince Program at the state level is not a competition, but one of a mentoring and learning process conducted by the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant, Inc. and agree to abide by all decisions made by the organization relative to the Diamond State Princess/Prince Program. General Rules and Suggestions for Diamond State Princess/Prince

1. The Diamond State Princess/Prince Directors and committee have complete charge of all activities during pageant week. The DSP Director and committee names are listed in this document. They have full authority to make decisions governing contact with Diamond State Princess/Prince.

2. No one is permitted backstage at any time, except security, stage personnel, and pageant officials. Security will be posed at all stage entrance.

3. All problems or complaints should be reported to the Diamond State

Princess/Prince committee. 4. From the time a Princess/Prince arrives in Hot Springs for the pageant, until the

pageant is completed; a princess/prince is under the jurisdiction of the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant, Inc. and must abide by its rules and regulations.

5. For the safety of your child you must follow the safety rules and regulations. 6. Each parent or Guardian will be given an ID. This ID is to be worn by

parent/Guardian at all times when you are with your DSP at rehearsal or DSP drop off and pick up.

7. You may so show a photo ID. But ID is required. 8. Your child will only be released to the Parent/Guardian after a DSP event for the

safety of your child. 9. Do not send someone with your ID to pick up your child. If you have an issue

picking up your DSP after an event, such as working with the pageant, and cannot pick up your child yourself; you MUST arrange DSP pickup with the DSP Director the day of the event. Place on paper the event name, name of the DSP, Parent or Guardian Name and Cell phone number and the name of the person that will be picking up your child and that persons relationship to the DSP and give to the DSP Director. Due to the number of children involved this should only happen if you are absolutely not able to come yourself with your ID bracelet. You understanding is greatly appreciated. The safety of your child is our first priority.

10. The DSP will be given a ID to be worn at all times when at the Miss Arkansas Pageant events. She/he will not wear during production however.

11. Any Parent, Princess/Prince whose conduct is deemed unbecoming by the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant, Inc, the DSP Director or DSP Committee, or the Miss Arkansas Executive Director will be asked to withdraw from the Diamond State Princess/Prince Program with no refund of any fees. Such request is at the sole discretion of the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant, Inc. and the Princess/Prince, her parent and/or guardian hereby agree to abide by that request without

disruption and indemnify the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant, Inc. should that occur.

12. Bring with you all rehearsal material, (shoes, jacket, etc) for those long rehearsals, because it does get cold in the auditorium. Layering your attire is suggested. All Rehearsals are CLOSED. Only the DSP is allowed in rehearsals. Any Parent not Adhering to rules will jeopardize your child's participation.

13. All Princesses/Prince must be checked in and out with their Diamond State Princess/Prince Directors or Committee member at all Official Princess/Prince events during pageant week, which will include arrival, production rehearsals, each night of preliminary competition, and the final night.

14. ALL FORMS, PICTURES, AND $400 FEE ARE DUE NO LATER THAN MARCH 23, 2016. Payment is by check, money order. No CREDIT CARDS. Made payable to: Miss Arkansas Pageant, Inc.

15. Transportation, Housing, and Meals: You must provide your own transportation while participating in the Miss Arkansas Pageant/Diamond State Princess/Prince Program. All Diamond State Princesses/Princes, their families, and friends are responsible for their housing and meals and other expenses during the pageant and pageant activities.

16. The DSP Parent will be given a DSP package on Sunday, July 3, 2016 to include: an Official Miss Arkansas DSP Crown or Medallion; One Miss Arkansas program

book; DSP's photo will appear on the DSP page in the MA Program Book; T Shirt(s),

ID Badges, Lanyard, Working Schedule of Events. Three tickets to the Miss Arkansas Pageant for each night to sit in the DSP section (if you have others attending and you want to sit with your personal group of family or friends-you may purchase tickets as patrons or from Ticketmaster when they go on sale. The group will not sit in the DSP section and no tickets will be sold in the DSP section)

17. A GUARDIAN 18 YEARS OR OLDER MUST BE PRESENT AT ALL FUNCTIONS EXCEPT THE DSP/TITLEHOLDER PARTY AND REHEARSALS.

PRECEPTS OF CONDUCT FOR DIAMOND STATE PRINCESS/PRINCE

The Precepts of Conduct for Diamond State Princess/Princes are the foundation upon which the image and reputation of the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant Diamond State Princess/Princes Program has been built and will continue to be the basis for its operation.

1. A Diamond State Princess/Prince will conduct himself/herself at all times with dignity, grace, and good manners of young women & men who exemplify the integrity of American youth.

2. A Diamond State Princess/Prince must observe all rules and regulations from the time of his/her arrival in Hot Springs until his/her departure. She/he must register by the official designated time and remain through checkout as determined by the DSP pageant staff.

3. A Diamond State Princess/Prince will not participate in any interview, picture, and press contact, or any type of publicity unless a member of the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant committee is present.

4. A Diamond State Princess/Prince will not attend parties, meetings, and social events, or make any public appearances other than at regularly scheduled events of the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant.

5. The Diamond State Princess/Prince, parents/guardians, hereby (a) recognize that such decisions and actions taken by the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant and Diamond State Princess/Prince Program and its personnel are at the sole discretion of the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant and Diamond State Princess/Prince Program, (b) agree to abide and accept such actions and decisions without disruption to the Miss Arkansas Diamond State Princess/Prince Program, and (c) agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant and Diamond State Princess/Prince Program.

INFRACTION OF RULES AND PRECEPTS OF CONDUCT If a Diamond State Princess’/Prince' conduct is deemed unsatisfactory by the Director of the Pageant Committee and by this conduct the image and good name of the Miss Arkansas Diamond State Princess/Prince Program is deemed to be jeopardized, the following procedure is followed:

1. The Director of the Pageant Committee will issue a warning to the Princess/Prince in the presence of another Pageant Official. The Princess /Prince parent(s)/guardian will be notified immediately.

2. If the condition causing this warning is corrected, no further action will be taken.

3. If the condition is not corrected, the Director of the Pageant Committee will

notify the Executive Director of the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant, Inc. She/he will be given all the particulars regarding the infraction of rules; further action would be the result of their decision.

4. What a Diamond State Princess/Prince does, where he/she goes, and how he/she

conducts himself/herself while in Hot Springs for Pageant Week, are all governed, to a large degree by rules, regulations and demanding schedules.

As part of his/her participation in this event, it is the Diamond State Princess/Princes responsibility to confine and amend his/her performance to adapt to the constraints of the production requirements. The Diamond State Princess/Prince hereby agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant, Inc., the pageant committee, and other entities, which might be construed as liable from and against any and all claims for personal injuries, death, damages, cost, and/or other expenses including reasonable attorney’s fees, arising from or in any way connected with the use of the facilities as above noted. Center Open Section of the Mall walkway. Tables will be set up

for Contestants. DSP will have the same type setup. DSP gather

at their tables. The DSP committee will direct the DSP”s line up

with their Miss Arkansas contestant for introduction. The

contestant (DSP) will be in alpha order by title and introduced

from Mall Stage. The DSP will sign autographs for the Mall

public visitors just like the Miss Arkansas contestants. You may

use autograph pads if you wish. The DSP will provide whatever

she decides to sign. The Public will have their program books and

may wish to have them signed.

12:00– 2:00 p.m.– MISS ARKANSAS AUTOGRAPH PARTY-Miss

contestants will wear crown and sash and be introduced with their

DSP on stage.

1:30 p.m.—DSP AUTOGRAPH PARTY ENDS–DSP is dismissed and

may leave with their parent/guardian showing their Official ID.
