archivedmessage.AstubcanbeidentifiedinOutlookorOWAbytheicondisplayed.Theiconissimilartoaregularmessagebuthasanarrowinthelowerlefthandcorner(muchlikeashortcutinaWindowsoperatingsystem.)

Open/Preview/Retrieve:Opening(OutlookwithEASClientorOWA)orPreviewing(EntouragewithEEC)astubbedmessagewillretrievethefullmessage(withattachments)backfromtheEASarchives.Thisisatemporaryrenderingofthemessageanddoesnotaffectauser’sExchangemailboxsize.InOutlook

(withEASClientinstalled)orOWAthiscanbedonebysimplydouble‐clickingonamessage.Restore:Restoringamessage(OutlookwithEASClientandEntouragewithEEC)willrestorethemessagefromtheEASarchivesandreplacethestubthatwasinauser’smailboxwiththefullversionofthe

message(withattachments.)

EASARCHIVINGPOLICIESTheEASarchivingpoliciesarebasedontwothings:MessageClasses(i.e.Emailmessage,Calendaritem,Contacts,etc.)andAge.

• Messages7daysoldorolderthatare>1MBintotalsizearestubbed.

• Messages30daysoldandolderareallstubbed,regardlessofsize.

• Messages180daysoldandolderareplacedintothearchivesonly.TherewillbenostubormessageleftbehindintheExchangemailbox.Theseitemsareaccessiblebysearchingorby

browsingyourarchivesinEWA.

• Calendaritemstakeonthesamepoliciesasmessages.

• EASwillnotstubContacts,Notes,orDistributionLists

cableunplugged)theuserwouldstillbeabletoretrievethearchivedcontent.ArchiveHelp:Thisbuttonpullsupasmallhelpguideforusers.ThishelpguidedetailshowtoperformbasicEASfunctionality.AlthoughthehelpguidereferencesthatitisforOutlook2003itisapplicablefor

bothOutlook2003andOutlook2007installations.

Whenastubbeditemisselected,theEAStoolbarwilldisplaythefollowingoptions:

Open/Preview:Openingastubbedmessagewillretrievethefullmessage(withattachments)backfromtheEASarchives.Thisisatemporaryrenderingofthemessageanddoesnotaffectauser’sExchange

mailboxsize.InOutlook(withEASClientinstalled)thiscanbedonebysimplydouble‐clickingonamessage.Restore:Restoringamessagewillreplacethestubthatwasinauser’smailboxwiththefullversionof

themessage(withattachments)fromtheEASarchives.Thefullmessagewillremainintheuser’sexchangemailboxuntilpolicydictatesthatitbestubbedormovedintothearchivesonly,oruntilauser

selectsthemessageandclicksArchiveNow.Delete:Deleting(throughtheEASdeletebutton,asopposedtotheOutlookdeletebutton)willcausetheitemtobedeletedfromtheuser’sExchangemailboxaswellasfromtheuser’sEASarchives.Ifthis

buttonispressedtheitemWILLNOTbeplacedintheDeletedItemsfolder,butwillbedeletedimmediately.FormostusersitwillbemoreappropriatetousetheOutlookdeletebuttoninstead.

YouwillneedtoentertheEECServerURL(eas.emory.edu),checktheUseSSLcheckbox,andselectthe

appropriateTimeZone.WhenyouhavedonethisclicktheTestConnectionbutton.Youshouldgetascreenbackthatlookslikethefollowing:

YoucanthenclicktheOKbutton,whichwillfullyconnecttheEECclientanddisplaythemainEECtoolbar(shownbelow):

LoggingintoEWAWhenyouloginyoumustsupplyyourusername(includingdomainname.)Instructionsfordoingthisarelocatedontheloginpage.YouwillusetheloginyouusetoaccessOWA.

EWAMainPageOnceyouhaveloggedintoEWAyouwillseeapagelikethefollowing.Fromhereyoucanbrowseyourarchivedcontent.YouwillnoticethateventhoughnoteverythinginyourExchangemailboxisstubbed,

thatitemspresentforatleast24hoursareavailableforviewinghere.

Whenyouclickonamessageitscontents(andattachments)appearinthepreviewpane.

Ifyouwanttoperformsomemessagingfunctionality(i.e.Forward,Reply,etc.)withthemessageslistedhereyoucanclickontheenvelopeicon(boxedinthepictureabove)inthecenterpane.Thiswill

downloadthefullmessagefromtheEASarchives(youwillneedamessagingprogram(suchasOutlookorEntourage)toviewandperformfunctionalityontheitem.

Manyusersmaywishtochange/configurethedefaultoptionsthataresetinEWA.TheoptionspageisaccessiblebyclickingonOptionsonthebottomleftcorneroftheEWAmainpage.
