TheYRS02isabroadbandnoiseandcombsourcethatiscapableofproducingacontinuousnoiseoutputfrom9kHzto1GHz,oracomboffrequencieswithinthe5kHzto1GHzrange,withstepsizebeingselectedbytheuser.Thenoisegeneratorenablesobservationofdetailsoverthefullspectralrange,whilethecombgeneratorallowsforthereferencesignaloutputandnoisefloortobeviewedsimultaneously. Forradiatedoperationtwomonopoleantennas,optimisedfordifferentfrequencybands,areavailablewhichattachtothetopoftheunit.TheYRS02isanidealsourceforcarryingoutchecksonopenareatestsites(OATS)andanechoicchambers.
TheYRS02iscompactandbatterypowered,allowingoperationasanelectricallysmallsource,whichminimisestheeffectoftheYRS02itselfwhencharacterisingtheelectromagneticenvironment.TheYRS02ishousedinametalenclosuresothatitcanbemountedindirectcontactwithametalgroundplaneasmayberequiredbysometests. AnN-typeconnectorprovidesadirect50Ωmatchedoutput,whichcanbeusedtocarryoutchecksonconductedmeasurementsystems.Twoadaptorsareavailableasoptionalaccessories:TheLSA03providesacapacitivelinkfromtheoutputoftheYRS02toastandardIEC320mainspowerconnector.Thisallowschecksandinvestigationsonconductedmeasurementsystemstobemade,forexampleusingaLISNoranabsorbingclamp.TheNIA01providesaninterfacetoRJ11,RJ14,RJ25andRJ45standardconnectorsforconductedmeasurementsusinganISN.
