Transition to Secondary School
* In the morning, children will come straight to the class now from 8.40am and begin an ‘early morning’ activity. This enables children to have a chance to talk with their teacher if they have any news or worries and start the day in a positive, calm way ☺
* On a Wednesday morning, children will now have three specialist teachers for the following subjects:
* French –Mrs Goddard * Computing –Mr Nicholls* PE (indoor) – Miss Smith
New timetable
* PE kits are needed in school from Monday to Wednesday. Across the school, all children will now have two PE lessons a week.
* We want to promote a love of sport and better enable all children to find a sport that they love. These lessons will also enable all children to develop their teamwork skills and build up their resilience.
* On Monday/Tuesday there will be an outdoor games taught by the class teacher and on Wednesday they will do an indoor PE lesson with Miss Smith.
* Please provide a note in the diary if not participating.
* Kit content including tracksuit.
* Footwear for outdoor/wet conditions.
* PE Content: football, basketball, hockey, netball, athletics, cricket, gym and dance.

* Purpose: To support and reinforce skills and concepts explored at school
* Maths-based activity - My Maths Login
* CGP Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling book for each child in Year 6 to practise
key grammar, punctuation and spelling rules taught in class.
* English-based home learning activity linked to classwork e.g. poetry/character
descriptions/spelling rules etc.
* Set on Wednesday & due on Wednesday
* Daily reading of around 30 minutes to be recorded in the homework diary

Children who do their classwork and complete homework, including regular reading, will be well prepared for the tests.We are sure the children will take the tests in their stride, as Year 6 did last year.
