THROUGH THE IDEA OF MEETING LINES, A NEWLY DESIGNED BRIDGE WILL BE BUILT ABOVE YARRA RIVER. I AM FOCUSED ON THE EMPHASIZ-ING THE EDGE LINE OF GROUND AND HOW IT CAN EXTENDS TO TOUCH YARRA RIVER, THROUGH THE MEETING AND EXTENDING OF THE EXISTING GROUND LINES, THE PRELIMARY FORM OF THE BUILD-ING IS FORMED.
Bound by Flinders Street, Swanston Street, Queens Bridge Street and the Yarra River in Melbourne, the site is a vital nexus in the Melbourne civic topogra-phy. It encompassess an area of approximately 46000 sq.m and exhibits a rich metabolism of complementary programme.

MAPPING OF TRANSPORTATION: DIFFERENT TRAM LINES
Upon the receipt of the brief and after extensive mapping and analysis of the macrocosmic Melbourne CBD area had been conducted, it soon be-came clear that the microcosmic station complex situated on Flinders Street had fallen into such a state of disrepair at the hands of its planning authorities, which, once combined with a prolonged absence of maintenance, left us with many loose ends to address. The unrealised Art Nouveau arched iron roof, as envisaged in the 1899 winning competi-tion design submitted by Fawcett and Ashworth, could well have served as the vital missing lungs needed to breathe life into the station past its pending, modern-day expiration date. Its series of largely wasted, poorly managed or abandoned areas ultimately amount to a vessel of atrophied limbs and septic internal organs juxtaposed with clogged in-ternal arteries that no longer serve to oxygenate the body with lasting life. Such a metaphor is befitting to the current state of Flinders Street Station in that it calls for a long-term solution, one that acts not as basic medication to placate current ailments or appease those of the past, but rather to allow them to inform a pathway for a sustainable design solution.Such interventions are set in place to restore the atro-phied Flinders Street Station not only to its former glory (at a façade level) and as a celebrated Victorian landmark, but more so to allow its rich history to enlighten the formulation of a significant civic space in the heart of the city that would of worth and of use to current and future generations, whilst paying homage to its modest beginnings.
