Beyond the Colorado Community College System

• 18 participant colleges
• Coordinate Curriculum Initiatives
• Consensus via listserv & semi-annual meetings
• Biggest challenge is lack of participation
General Transfer Courses
• Additional review process involving representatives from 4-year programs
• Mandatory transfer of approved courses to any public institution of higher learning in state
• Originally only “core” courses
• Now, if not GT, most courses > 2 credits do not get sufficient enrollment to be viable
Articulation Agreements with Individual Schools
• Especially important if their courses have non-traditional prefixes/names (i.e. no clear “equivalent”)
• e.g. Colorado School of Mines– Earth and Environmental Systems (SYGN)
• Benefits both schools by making transfer process easier & boosting enrollments
• Helps students by clarifying requirements & reducing hassles
