Wootton School will ensure a first class education for all
within a challenging, secure and happy environment for learning.
Dear Parents and Friends, Friday 24th February 2012
Wootton Community Primary SchoolChurch Road, Wootton BridgeRyde, Isle of WightPO33 4PTTelephone/Fax: 01983 882505Email : [email protected]: Mrs Peta Mather
This week I have been visiting schools in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire with
20 other headteachers from the Island for the last three days. It is
always very informative to see how other schools work and we learn a lot
from these visits and this enables us to bring new ideas back to our schools.
These visits are annual visits that nearly all primary heads undertake each
year. Even though I am out of school, I am in constant communication with
Mrs Dunford and always kept informed of all school issues and events.
Dont forget next week we have Parents Evenings on Monday 27 th and
Tuesday 28thFebruary, if you havent already signed up. If you cannot get
into school to look at the times, then please telephone and we can make you
a convenient appointment.
The PTFA will be running our Scholastic Book Fayre starting on Wednesday
29th February in the school hall. You should receive a 1 book voucher on
Monday, so hold onto this and you can use it when you are buying books
from the stalls. The last day for the Book Fayre will be Monday 5th March.
To support World Book Week we will be holding a Dress as a BookCharacter day on Friday 2nd March. There will be one 5 book voucher
prize for the best character in each class and an overall voucher for the
best dressed in the school and we will give these out in next Fridays
assembly.
Dont forget the Book Week Competition entries need to be in by Thursday
1stMarch so they can be judged ready for Fridays assembly also.
Good luck with the PTFA Quiz Night tonight. I hope it goes well as the
PTFA work very hard to support our school with these events, so pleasesupport them. I am sure there will be tickets on the door should you decide
to turn up.
Kind regards
Peta Mather

We will be celebrating birthdays during the
week.
Dinner Money
Please can you check the amount of money you are sending in for dinners. It is 1.85 per day,
9.25 per week.
Cheques for dinner money are made payable to Isle of Wight Council and all other money is
Wootton CP
If your child is only having dinners on certain days, then can you please mark the days on the
envelope, or back of the cheque.
Please put your childs name and year group on the envelope.
If you are sending in one cheque for more than one childs dinners, then please say which days
both your children would like dinners.
We now have so many children and so much money to administer, that we need as much
information as possible to help to make the process run more smoothly. You would not believe
the amount of detective work we have to do, when we receive a cheque for an odd amount with
no name and year groups on it!
Thank you.
WOOTTON SCHOOL WEBSITE
The Wootton School Website is now available to visit. At the site there are a range of resources such as the
weekly news letter. There is also a section for each class. It can be found by going to
www.school-portal.co.uk/ and selecting W to find Wootton or searching Wootton Primary School in Google.
MATHLETICS
Thank you for all the children who have used the Mathletics website. I can see that children are working
hard and earning lots of points, credits and certificates. We are keen for these to be brought into class but
unfortunately due to the volume of certificates time will not allow them to be shown in Star Pupil.
