Sat 10 Oct, 7pm RETURN TO EARTHIn this glorious evening of contemporary dance, music and circus you’ll be swept away by the beauty of movement as our performers, directed by Gavin Webber of The Farm, respond to the awe-inspiring Gaia installation and explore our connection to the earth Performers include The Farm and The Farm’s GreenHouse Youth Ensemble, classical Indian dancer Aarti Bajaj, HOTA Choir, Tibetan/Australian musician Tenzin Choegyal, dancers Kayah and Maitreyah Guenther, Taree Sansbury, Caleena Sansbury and Thomas E.S. Kelly, and Circa Zoo and QUT Dance Performance in a creation by Elise May.

1–11 Oct, FREE GAIABY LUKE JERRAM

Experience the wonder of Gaia, a stunning self-rotating replica of Earth, as it suspends from the Outdoor Stage against the backdrop of the Gold Coast skyline, with a specially made composition by BAFTA Award-winning composer Dan Jones.

Stop by during the day and see the sculpture floating atop a makeshift lake, basking in the sunlight. Or visit in the early evening as the Earth glows, rest on the lawn under the stars and take a moment for reflection.

Bring the family and a picnic rug, and prepare to be captivated by the incredible opera star Jose Carbo, swoon with the Orava String Quartet, let Griffith Brass take you to Broadway, celebrate the Hungarian cello virtuoso Gyorgy Deri’s Australian debut, honour our home with the Yugambeh Youth Choir and be electrified by Ba Da Boom percussion.

World music favourites Mzaza bring you their brand-new show, The Birth and Death of Stars, playing live underneath Luke Jerram’s GAIA. Drawing inspiration from history’s philosophers and astronomers, this multi award-winning group of talented musicians will mesmerize you with inspired performances on accordion, violin, shah kaman, percussion, double-bass and guitar Exotic rhythms and melodies that tap into the beating heart of humankind. And with a bite to eat and a cheeky drink in hand – what better way to finish off weekend.

On Oct 11, kick your shoes off, put your feet in the sand, tune in and listen from the shore of the HOTA lake, as we bring you a live radio session, broadcast from the middle of Evandale Lake.

Plus, upgrade your picnic basket with some tasty treats for your adventure – choose between our Cheese and Crackers ($20) or Baguette and Brownie option ($30), to round out your journey.
