WELCOME No matter what your present status in the Catholic Church, No matter your current family or marital situation,
No matter your personal history, age, income, background, gender, race, ethnicity or spirituality, No matter your own self-image of holiness or virtue — You belong to Jesus Christ and you belong to us!
You are invited, accepted and respected here at St. Anthony and St. Barbara Parishes.
We want to share our Roman Catholic way of faith and life in Christ with you!
BULLETIN SUBMISSIONS Please submit requests 10 days prior to publication date to: [email protected]. Deadline may change during holidays. Please check with the office. Thank you.
Greetings in Jesus Christ! It is at times like these our faith reminds us that we are never truly alone, even as we face unprecedented challenges as a parish community. Though we are not able to join together in the celebration of the Eucharist, we continue daily to pray for the health of you and your loved ones. I am reaching out to you about an effort created by a member of the laity with concern for our parishes during this time of crisis. It is a special 90-day campaign that will provide offertory support directly to St. Anthony of Padua and St. Barbara parishes.
90-DAYS NOW – FOR YOUR PARISH – CAMPAIGN This special campaign asks parishioners, if possible, to rally around St. Anthony of Padua and St. Barbara parishes by making a special daily offertory commitment for the next 90 days. This effort is intended to supplement your weekly offertory gifts, given the challenges of the current crisis. Should you choose to join in this effort, the Archdiocese has created an easy-to-use link to donate. The link is available by clicking here or by copying and pasting the below link into your web browser.
https://bcatholic.sites.bostoncatholic.org/90DaysYourParish. We, at the Woburn Catholic Collaborative, are incredibly moved by this effort and forward this information for your consideration. I understand many of you may not be able to contribute to this special offertory collection given the economic impact this pandemic has had on your personal finances, and remain extremely grateful for your prayers of support for our parish families. Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Thomas Powers Pastor

Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord April 5, 2020
St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology By Dr. Scott Hahn
All is Fulfilled
Readings: Isaiah 50:4-7 Psalm 22:8-9, 17-20, 23-24 Philippians 2:6-11 Matthew 26:14-27:66
“All this has come to pass that the writings of the prophets may be fulfilled,” Jesus says in today’s Gospel (see Matthew 26:56).
Indeed, we have reached the climax of the
liturgical year, the highest peak of salvation
history, when all that has been anticipated and
promised is to be fulfilled.
By the close of today’s long Gospel, the work of
our redemption will have been accomplished,
the new covenant will be written in the blood of
His broken body hanging on the cross at the
place called the Skull.
In His Passion, Jesus is “counted among the wicked,” as Isaiah had foretold (see Isaiah 53:12). He is revealed definitively as the Suffering Servant the prophet announced, the long-awaited Messiah whose words of obedi-ence and faith ring out in today’s First Reading and Psalm.
The taunts and torments we hear in these two readings punctuate the Gospel as Jesus is beaten and mocked (see Matthew 27:31), as His hands and feet are pierced, as enemies gamble for His clothes (see Matthew 27:35), and as his enemies dare Him to prove His di-vinity by saving Himself from suffering (see Matthew 27:39-44).
He remains faithful to God’s will to the end,
does not turn back in His trial. He gives Himself
freely to His torturers, confident that, as He
speaks in today’s First Reading: “The Lord God
is My help…I shall not be put to shame.”
Destined to sin and death as children of Ad-am’s disobedience, we have been set free for holiness and life by Christ’s perfect obedience to the Father’s will (see Romans 5:12-14,17-19; Ephesians 2:2; 5:6).
This is why God greatly exalted Him. This is why we have salvation in His Name. Following His example of humble obedience in the trials and crosses of our lives, we know we will never be forsaken. We know, as the centurion today, that truly this is the Son of God (see Matthew 27:54).

Holy Week Schedule during State of Emergency
The Woburn Catholic Collaborative plans to stream Holy Week Liturgies on Facebook and have recordings available on the website
www.woburncatholic.org
The original plan was to stream the Triduum rotating from both churches. However, given the need for internet access and sanctuary space, St. Barbara church was chosen. We will return to the planned rotation next year.

Update on Sacramental Formation in the Woburn Catholic Collaborative
Parents and Guardians of candidates for First
Confession, First Holy Communion and Confirmation
All information about sacramental formation and celebration will be emailed to families, posted on www.woburncatholic.com and announced in the
bulletin. Please note the following:
• First Confession (Penance) and First Holy Communion will be rescheduled. Since First Confession must precede First Holy Communion, both will take place in late September or early October 2020. Details will follow.
• Confirmation depends on the availability of a
bishop. At the present time, neither bishop has rescheduled the Confirmations slated at both churches on Sunday, May 17, 2020. We will verify this and update candidates and their families. If not rescheduled, candidates will receive instruction materials by email. These will also be available on the website.
