Modern roundabouts are differentfrom rotaries and other trafficcircles. For example, roundaboutsare typically smaller than thelarge, high-speed rotaries still inuse in some parts of the country. In addition, roundabouts aretypically larger than neighborhoodtraffic circles used to calm traffic.
A roundabout has these characteristics:

What is a Roundabout (in Waze)?
3
Roundabouts, rotaries, or traffic circles, are unique segments ofroadway in the Waze router. When a driver approaches aroundabout, a specific icon is displayed in the turn direction areaof the display with a number corresponding to the exit count fromthe driver's entry into the roundabout. Manually creating a circularroad will not tell Waze to navigate the area as a roundabout.

In Waze, there are two typesof roundabout. Normal, and Abnormal.
A roundabout has a minimum of 3 road segments, but canhave 5 or more. Sounds pretty simple, right?
The basic concept of the roundabout in Waze relativelysimple to understand for newer editors.

Streets intersect, but there is no center island preventingcross-traffic turns (left-hand in the US and right-hand in theUK). There are no signs indicating a roundabout approachingthe intersection or painted on the ground.
A single road segment leading to a cul-de-sacshould be drawn as a dead end. With very large
roads it might be advisable to create a loop, but nota roundabout.

Road Types

To minimize inefficient routing, it is important to becareful with the road type assigned to the Roundaboutitself. Any routing penalty going from connected roadsto the roundabout must be kept to a minimum, but itshould not be too "attractive," where routing through itis encouraged when unnecessary.
It is possible to have multiple typesof roads meeting at a roundabout.

A non-normal roundabout:
*Will give you a ‘take the X exit’ (with arrows around it) instruction.*Has 5 or more nodes (Ex. Each segment of a split road connects at itsown node.)*Has irregularly placed nodes (this is covered in the wiki.)

A normal roundabout:*Will give you a ‘turn right', 'turn left’ or ‘continue straight’ instruction.*Has up to 4 nodes, and a central node.*All nodes are aligned within "normal" range of the entry point.
However, a roundabout can be both normal and non-normal at the sametime depending on your entrance node.

When you create a Roundabout on the
map, EVERY road segment inside the
roundabout will be deleted!
