How it worksDedicated Windows servers are provisioned in a Virtual Private Cloud for each customer. These servers are used exclusively by the company according to configured security policies and user permissions. Any Windows-based application can be installed and configured on these servers, and then assigned to users and groups, granting them immediate one-click access through their OS33 Cloud Desktop. Each user has unrestricted access to 4 CPUs and 16 GB of memory to guarantee unconstrained hosted application performance.

    • All of your software runs from the cloud, not from your local computer• Applications are managed and hosted in our data centers, delivered remotely• No software to install or manage on local desktops• Web applications launch with one-click and single sign on• Utility-based billing, only pay for what you consume

The OS33 Cloud Desktop provides a seamless experience running Windows-based applications delivered from the cloud without the overhead and drawbacks of traditional Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

    • Get common productivity applications like Microsoft Office hosted out of the box.• Add virtually any desktop or server application, custom vendor software, legacy

solution, etc.• Users can access apps from any desktop, thin client, laptop, tablet or phone• Eliminate on-site servers, minimize tech refresh, and avoid outages.

Includes:• Private Cloud infrastructure with a 99.99% SLA• Full management of hosted applications• Storage in the cloud• Security and disaster recovery• Software license management

    Cloud Desktop Types

ProfessionalOur most popular Cloud Desktop is for typical users running common Windows-based productivity applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Acrobat, Internet Explorer, QuickBooks and others. Professional users consume up to 750MB of memory for user-specific applications.

PowerPower users will run many of the same common business applications above, along with heavier business applications such as Microsoft Dynamics, Solomon, SAP and others that require additional resources. Power users consume above 750MB of memory for user-specific applications.

Custom ConfigurationsCustom configurations can be tailored to specific application sets, from low-use situations to the most demandingapplication sets.

How utilization is measuredWith a standalone desktop or traditional VDI solution, one must purchase the maximum amount of resources they would ever need for both the applications and system-related resources. With OS33 Cloud Desktop, we only account for the amount of memory used by user specific applications in a given calendar month, and discard top 5% of utilization to account for occasional spikes. Memory used by the Windows operating system and other system/shared processes are not counted towards utilization.

Below is an example of a power user consistently using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    Actual memory utilization 95th percentile

How to determine the appropriateCloud Desktop for your users? To determine the right Cloud Desktop for a user, on a Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 machine with a comparable set of applications open and running, use the Task Manager to calculate the total memory used by user processes. For Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012, open the Users tab in the Task Manager and look at the memory column for a specific user. We recommend adding 25% as a buffer. If the total number is under 750MB, choose Professional, otherwise go with Power.
