Wildcat Weekly
Fall came slower and was a
little warmer than usual this
year, but the weather has been
nice for outdoor extracurricu-
lar activities. Thank you to our
athletes, band members,
cheerleaders, drill team, all of
the directors, and coaching
staff for working together to
make the Wildcat 2016 Fall
extracurricular season a great
one.
Palestine ISD was featured in
the October, 2016, edition of
TACS Today. The article,
written by PISD Director of
Public Relations Larissa Love-
less, showcases Palestine
ISD’s progression into Twenty
-First Century Learning. The
journey began five years ago
with the implementation of
STEM classes at Palestine Jun-
ior High. Since that time,
STEM classes have been add-
ed at Northside, Southside,
Story, and Palestine High
School.
The district’s Robotics
program is thriving. The PHS
Robotics program, taught by
Joseph Baker, began in 2013.
The PHS team has won
several SkillsUSA Champion-
ships, as well as two VEX
Tournament championships in
December, 2015. Grade K-5
students are also being intro-
duced to Robotics education
in STEM classes. Story Inter-
mediate has an after school
VEX Robotics program taught
by Virgil Buell that has partici-
pated in several tournaments.
Palestine ISD will continue
exploring innovative ways to
educate students to ensure that
they are workforce ready in
our rapidly changing highly
technological world. The

ty-First Century Learning on

November 12, 2016. Good luck Michael!
Basketball:
The Junior High Girls Basketball teams traveled to Hudson. The 7A team brought home second place and are 3-1 early on in the
season. The 8A team won first place and have started their season 4-0. Congrats to these young ladies and coaches for their fine
start.
The Ladycat Basketball team had their home opener on Thursday evening against the Canton Eagles. Thanks to all of the fans
who came out to support the Ladycat Basketball Program.
The JV Girls’ Basketball team played hard but had a rough time making baskets. The defense played solid throughout the game.
The Varsity Ladycats hosted #12 Canton in the TABC polls. Both teams played a very tight first half as we went in down 23-25 at
half. This team has the ability to play very close through three quarters with a ranked team. The Ladycats are on the road
against Lindale tonight. The game will begin at 7:30 pm.
The Boy’s Freshman and JV Basketball teams will scrimmage at Cross Roads tonight at 5:00 pm.
We are very encouraged and excited for the Basketball season.
