May Luncheon May 14th at 11:55 am
Scholarship Program Bluebird Restaurant
RSVP: http://wib.usu.edu/
May is such a beautiful time of the year! One of the reasons that it is my favorite month is the Women in Business Scholarship luncheon. We received a record number of scholarship applications with many extraordinary women candidates. I want to express my gratitude to Nicole Meyer for her efforts as the Scholarship Chair this year. She had several wonderful Women in Business members assist her on the selection committee. Every luncheon you have attended, every auction item you purchased and every raffle ticket sold goes toward the scholarship program.
We are excited to honor the scholarship recipients at our upcoming luncheon on Tuesday, May 14th at the Blue Bird Restaurant. Please plan to attend and help us celebrate! Plan to arrive early to be able to introduce yourselves to the scholarship recipients and their honored guests.
Thanks again for your support this year.
Tammy Selley, President
Rikki White has been the Events Coordinator at the Cache Chamber since July of 2012. Her main responsibilities in this position are to plan and execute exciting events for the Cache Chamber of Commerce. These events give themembership value through providing networking opportunities with other businesses and with the Cache Valley community. Rikki was born and raised in Evanston, Wyoming. After High School,
she joined the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, and loved her time in the Navy. While in active duty she met her husband, Matt, who is originally from Indianapolis. After their daughter was born, Matt reenlisted, and Rikki continued to enjoy their Navy life from the perspective of Navy wife. Matt served for 10 years during which time Rikki attended college and worked in various Department of Defense postings. Many of her jobs over these years were in the health care field-‐ CNA, Massage Therapist, and EMT. When Matt separated from the Navy eight years ago, the Whites decided it was time to move closer to family. They had added two sons to their family, and wanted their children to enjoy a sense of family and community. They chose to move to Cache Valley because not only was it geographically close to their Wyoming family, but they felt that it was a safe and family friendly environment. They have been here for over seven years. In 2011, Rikki was able to (finally) complete her college education earning a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with a focus on multi-‐media and visual design. She brings this education to her work at the Cache Chamber of Commerce in many ways-‐ fixing the simpler networking issues that arise, using graphic design work in marketing campaigns, and increasing the Chamber’s social media presence. Rikki loves working with the Cache Chamber of Commerce. She says the people she meets every day inspire her with their business sense and drive to make the Cache Valley Community better for all of us. Finally, among all of the positive people she meets and learns from everyday, she feels so honored to be a part of Cache Valley’s Women in Business. WIB has been very beneficial to her through the relationships she has been able to build with other like-‐minded women in Cache Valley who like her, are struggling to juggle family and career. Rikki has learned so much from all of the women about how to do this juggling act a little more successfully.
