Chris Cushman, President called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as
printed in the newsletter.
Alan Orr, Treasurer, gave a financial report. Bonita
Graham, Sunshine Lady, updated us on Grace Brooks
and Colby Liston. Both Sheila Orr and Connie Craft
recently lost their mothers. Thank you notes from the family of Charlie Sills and from Merv Criser were
read to the club.
Claudia Ellerman reviewed information about our
upcoming “A’s In the Wild” Regional Meet and sug-
gested that club members visit our website and get their
registrations sent in as soon as possible. Nora Meyer displayed the quilt she made for the Regional Meet’s
raffle. Ron Cole needs help with the car games
Both the Ladies Christmas Luncheon (Lynda Cush-
man and Doris Jean Ludlow) and the A’s Christmas
Party (the Phyes) were a great success. Don Gra-
bendike’s Annual New Year’s Day tour was the first of
the New Year.
After refreshments provided by June Hall, Joyce
Dudeck, Jane Hellar, Rita Hoffmans, and Helen
Louise Beaver, Tom Ruggles updated the club on the
February Swap Meet. Members were encouraged to
sign the work schedules and the food rosters.

The 38th Swap Meet is now history and a great success. A special thanks to all of you that helped. Like I said
before, you are the club and make it what it is. I am
very proud to be a part of this organization.
The "Post Swap Meet Bunco Party" will be February
16, 2013, at 6:00 pm at Minisa Park, hosted by the
Broadheads and Kibbes.
February program will be tour planning hosted by our
Tour Chairman Don Grabendike. The reason for the meeting is to bring ideas and or be a leader. Don will
help you coordinate and schedule events. Don did a
great job last year. We had lots of activities and inter-
esting things to see and do.
Our February meeting will be on the 25th and Dennis
Ellerman, Vice President will conduct the meeting during my absence.

NOTE FROM THE EDITORNOTE FROM THE EDITORNOTE FROM THE EDITOR
MARC has a national meet every year and
MAFCA has a meet every other year, In order for
you to attend either of the national meets you have
to be a member of their national club. MARC is
having a National Meet in Lexington, KY this
summer and French Lick, IN in 2014. The next
MAFCA National Meet will be held in Puyallup,
WA in 2014.
If you want to receive the Early Bird News-
letter for the MAFCA meet in 2014, you can go to
this site: http://www.2014mafcanational.org/
index.html and click on the Early Bird Newsletter
information on the left side of the web site. If you
apply for the EB Newsletter you will receive regis-
tration information before it is published in the
"Restorer" magazine. They have sent their first
newsletter a couple of weeks ago. I have inserted the application form for both
national clubs in this newsletter for your convenience.
Don't forget about tour planning! Helen Louise Beaver and I are making plans for a tour this year.

Our Tour Director, Don Grabendike, deep in thought about Model A tours for 2013. Don hasn't moved since the January issue of this
newsletter was published. Lets help him out and come up with many
tours for 2013. This might encourage him get to out of his chair. Photo taken by Marcia Hillman.
Plans are still progressing for a great time in Wichita in June. As I told you last month, the
registration form is on Wichita A’s website at
www.wichitaas.com. The registrations are starting
to come in, so get yours in now. The Grand Tour will be on Thursday.
We’ll take an 85 mile drive on the Flint Hills Na-
tional Scenic Byway to the Tallgrass Prairie Na-tional Preserve. We’ll have some ole’ fashioned
country cooking for lunch in Cottonwood Falls.
The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve has a new visitor’s center where you can view an orien-
tation video of the area. After that you can take a
self-guided tour of the historical 1881 ranch house
and a cellphone tour of the other historic buildings in the park. Although, there probably won’t be
time, there are nature trails and hiking trails that
really give you a feel for how Kansas was in the
1800’s. Of all the millions of acres of tallgrass that used to be in North America, only 4% remains to-
day and most of that is in the flint hills, so you’re in
for a treat. After we have given you a taste of the
beauty of the flint hills, you’ll want to make anoth-er visit when you have more time to enjoy all they
have to offer. If you want to learn more about the
preserve before your visit, the website link is http://www.nps.gov/tapr/index.htm.
I’m really looking forward to the Grand
Tour. Driving up K-177 to Cottonwood Falls is one of my favorite drives in Kansas. In a Model A
it is even more beautiful, so enjoy the scenery dur-
ing the tour.
See you in June.

Thank You
To the A's
For the flowers, cards prayers and well
wishes I thank you so much and appreciate all
your good thoughts as I recover from back sur-
gery.
Merv Criser ---------------------------------
Thanks for your prayers, thoughts, lovely
flowers and cards I received during my recent ill-
ness. Hopefully, by the time you read this note I
will be up and running again.
Otto Praeger ------------------------------
You're all incredible!
All the personal calls, visits, and email (not to mention the numerous cards send during
Charlie's illness to encourage and cheer him) was
unbelievable and he enjoyed each one.
Following his death, those of you who brought food, made personal visits to our home, or
the church services, contributed to Masses or
Charities and/or sent their condolences in the many cards which appeared daily, has been truly
awesome.
The thoughtfulness of the Wichita A's to donate to Botanica in memory of Charlie was very
much appreciated.
On behalf of the Charlie Sill Family,
thank you to all. Glenda, Marc and Rob Sill

Weather was somewhat coopera-tive. Thursday, on move in day, it started
out warm and then turned cold and windy
for the rest of the swap meet. We did not
receive the snow other parts of Kansas did. The people, who worked outside really did
a great job braving the cold.
Club member Lonnie Bennett re-ported to me he had sold his 1929 Model A
Tudor Sedan early Friday morning at the
swap meet. The people who purchased the car are members of the Arkansas Model A
Club. Two out of three Model A's were
sold out of the car barn.
For those of you who volunteered several hours of your time, working hard
inside and out, and in many different posi-
tions, made this swap meet a great success. All of you deserve a pat on your back.
We are now making plans for the
2014 Sunflower Swap Meet.
Marking all done and waiting for vendors to move in.
Jim Broadhead, Jim Clark and Alan Orr setting up for the swap
meet.
Right: John Weninger
sold tables to the vendors
all afternoon Thursday and
most of the day Friday.
Bonita Graham and John Stone managing the P-1 office.
Lenette Kottas , Lynda Cushman, Pat McHenry, and Lawrence Kottas taking care of business in P-2 office.
Barb Phye and Nora Meyer helping customers on Thursday in a temporary office. The Car Barn office was locked and a locksmith
was called to open the office for Friday & Saturday.

Dave Burke is keeping track of the activities
outside between the Car Barn and P-2 building.
Duane Gosch, Dale Havercroft, Gerry Lampe
and Ray Hoffmans are caught chatting during their
job of moving cars in and out of the car barn.
Swap Meet Chairman, Tom Ruggles, is be-ing interviewed by a local TV station, KSN.
John David Stone and Dawna Rug-
gles braved the cold and kept watch
over the swap meet workers parking
lot.
Cars for sale, shoppers shopping and vendor 's selling.

Rumbleseat Safety
If you've ever carried grandchildren or neighborhood kids in a rumble seat during parades, you may have been con-cerned about their safety. Parade speed (3mph) is seldom a problem. But if you're concerned that the driver behind might be
distracted and bump your car propelling the kids forward, installing seat belts in a rumble seat is the obvious best solution.
But here's what may be the next best thing to seat belts.
Many toy stores sell a tubular pool toy called a Noodle®. It's made of resilient, sponge-like material and can be mod-ified easily for rumble seat use by shortening it to approximately 31” and using a box-cutter to slice the tube lengthwise as
shown:
The slice can then be spread so the Noodle® attaches quickly and easily to the front gutter of the rumble seat
“cockpit”.
Then after the kids have bailed, the Noodle® can be removed just as quickly and easily without any negative effects.
And it's ready for the next parade! It's also available in several colors to blend more closely with Henry's paint schemes / combinations!
However, if you're not pleased with the color of your Noodle®, (Yes, you read that correctly. Sounds like something
Michael Jackson might say!) or if your Noodle® clashes with your Model A's color combination or you'd like it to match exactly the upholstery of your rumble seat, Naugahyde® of the desired color and texture can be purchased to
cover your Noodle® in the following manner:

A ruffled frock in sheer cotton is smart this summer for big girls or little. In these two
dresses you have not only the interest of ruffled
collars with sash ends, not only the cool crisp-
ness of batiste or lawn but the time-saving comfort of a semi-made. In each case the col-
lar is ready to attach and all the bound edges
finished. For the big girl's frock in printed lawn you may choose dark blue and white, light
green and white or red and white. The batiste
for the child's dress comes in dots of light blue, light green or red on white.
