• There is a lot of manufacturing.

must do all trading by sea or air.

Russia- Population1. Most people live in the
western part of Russia near the major cities and along rivers (Moscow, St. Petersburg)
2. The urban land is in the west but most of Russia is rural.
3. Most people live inland since it’s coasts border the Arctic Ocean and are too cold.

Russia- Climate1. 4 climate zones: tundra,
subarctic, humid continental, and semi-arid
2. Russia is not really affected by a current. There are some cold currents on its northern coast, but it’s too far inland to get the benefits of the Gulf Stream.

Russia- Resources1. Energy resources are
located throughout the country but those in the tundra (where there is permafrost) are hard to extract from the ground.2. Has oil, gas, coal and many minerals/metals
Russia- Physical Features1. Ural Mountains split the
European part of the country from the Asian part of the country.
-Also, the country is mostly partly frozen tundra
2. Russia’s large size and cold climate make it difficult for Russians to use and trade their resources.
- The lack of a coastline makes trade hard. The only coastline they have is the Arctic Ocean which is usually frozen, so they really need a warm-water port.

1. All over! Especially: along the coast and near major cities. Germany is the most densely populated country in Europe.
2. Urban land spans the whole western part of the county, plus the North East and east-central part of the country. Rural land is also present (North European Plain)

1.Germany has several natural resources including coal, agriculture, and minerals like zinc and lead spread throughout the county.
2.The Rhine River region is densely populated with industry.

2. It is at the center of Western Europe and therefore close with several important trading partners—rivers and highways make trade easy. It also has access to the sea for shipping to other continents.
