What is GHP?
• A residential summer program with classes and activities that are designed to develop the next generation of global thinkers, innovators, and leaders
• An opportunity to participate in instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom in an environment that is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment
What is GHP?
• Students attend classes in specific areas of study in the mornings and afternoons. Morning classes (majors) are based on the student’s area of nomination. Afternoon classes (minors) are based on student interest.
• Students participate in a wide variety of instructional, leadership, ad social opportunities every evening.

What is the cost of GHP?
• The program is state-funded. This funding includes meals and a room on campus.
• Students pay for school supplies, snacks, and t-shirts.
• Students must arrange for their own transportation to Berry College.
Successful GHP Students
• Highly motivated and passionate about their subject area
• Seek a deeper understanding beyond classroom and teacher expectations
• Develop interests through cooperative activities
• Exhibit a willingness to challenge preconceived knowledge and expectations
• Exhibit the social and emotional maturity to interact respectfully, cooperatively, and appropriately with peers, instructors, and program staff
Successful GHP Students
• Committed to participate in interviews at both the district and state level
• Committed to attending GHP for the full length of the program, including opening and closing days (June 14 –July 11, 2020)
• Willing and able to live in a residential setting
• Capable of staying fully engaged in the curriculum for the full duration of the program

The Application
• Ensure that your application responses are complete and thorough.
• Your responses must demonstrate your motivation to attend GHP.
• Mention EVERYTHING you have done relevant to your nomination.
• Tell the TRUTH!
• You must provide a strong response to the subject-specific essay.
• Performance tasks weigh heavily in the selection process; however, we do not expect professional quality recordings. You may use your phone or Chromebook to record your performance.
• Accurate, working email addresses for both you and a parent/guardian are essential.
• Provide your nominating teacher with information about you that will support his or her nomination.
The Interview
• Most interviews will take place at the Academy for Advanced Studies. There may be exceptions for Dance, which your school contact will communicate with you.
• You will have an assigned interview time. Be on time!
• You may also be required to participate in a simulation or to perform.
• Be genuine.
• Be excited. Show your enthusiasm for GHP and your enthusiasm for your area of nomination.
• Highlight ways that you have gone above and beyond the requirements of the traditional high school curriculum.
• Wear appropriate apparel.
