We are glad you’re here and thankful for the opportunity to worship with you and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

PRAYER OF PRAISE AND CONFESSION One: God of Life and all living things, your breath fills the universe and makes it alive; All: We praise you, O God, for the gift of your Spirit. One: Your love blows through all creation and makes it one; All: We praise you, O God, for the gift of your Spirit. One: Your presence fills every corner, your voice fills every silence and your heartbeat lives within every living thing; All: We praise you, O God, for the gift of your Spirit. One: But we have failed to value the life of other people, other creatures, and the world you have given to be our home. All: Lord, forgive us.

One: We have failed to recognize the connectedness of all things, and have brought pain through division and exclusion. All: Lord, forgive us. One: We have denied your presence, ignored your voice, and forgotten your love for us and for all that you have made. Hear the silent prayers of our hearts as we consider our need for your grace.

—silent confession—

One: And hear us as we confess together: All: Lord, we recognize the ways we have brought pain to you, to others, and to ourselves. For Jesus’ sake, we ask you to breathe new life into us. Wash us clean, and ignite the fire of love in our hearts again. Amen.

One: And unite us in one voice as we stand together, reach out to touch our neighbor by taking a hand or holding a shoulder, and stating our faith together:

* All: We believe in God: Creator of all that has been made, and parent of the whole creation. We believe in Jesus Christ: Savior of all that has fallen, and restorer of our broken world. We believe in the Holy Spirit: The breath of all that lives, the love that binds all things together in one family of God. We believe in One creating, saving, enlivening God who is at work in our lives, and in our world to make all things new. Amen.

* THE PEACE As we are reconciled to God and to one another, share a sign of Christ’s peace and love with your neighbor.

As we design worship over the summer, your choices will be featured, but you never know when so better not miss a service!

LIVING THE QUESTIONS: SPRING TERM HAS BEGUN This DVD-based curriculum attempts to offer an alternative to studies that give us all the answers but rather creates an environment where we are free to interact with each other, live deeply into the questions we all share and explore what relevance Christianity has for us today. Each class stands alone so it is not necessary to have attended Fall or Winter term to enjoy this study. We will meet in the Library on Wednesdays beginning May 11 with the class running for 7 weeks. Choose either the 10 a.m. session or the 6:30 p.m. session and feel free to move between the two as your schedule permits. Cost is $5 for materials. Please let the church office know if you plan to attend.

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS The Northbrook Church office will be closed on Fridays during June, July and August. The office will be open during those months Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.—4:00 p.m.
