welcome from the verstegen family
lazy creek dispersal | welcome from the verstegen family 2
Its goes without saying that a year ago we never expected to be sitting here writing this, and sometimes we wonder if it’s a dream. However, how hard it may be it is a reality, and the show must go on. The greatest thing we have gotten out of the process is the growth a couple of town kids living on one of the busiest corners in Ontario a mere 15 years ago have made. And if that doesn’t put a smile on our faces nothing will. Along the way we have had the honour of meeting some great peo-ple that have helped mold our development, and passion. From Dean Schwartz being our first mentor to Brian McCarthy taken us under their wind, and opened our eyes to what it takes to be a breed legend we cannot thank you enough. There are far too many people out there to fit in this write up, but you know who you are.
Getting back to the sale; we have to pretty much pour all of our blood, sweat, and tears into this herd, and couldn’t be hap-pier with how it turned out. We were never ones to follow trends but mostly use bulls that we felt would further our herd, and work on traits we needed to improve. A lot of our Simmental genetics go back to a Spring Creek sire from Tank 60S, Tank 57P, Lotto 52Y, to newer bulls like Olympian, Hercules, and Blue Chip. We found these genetics fit our bill as they did well on our solely forage diet. In the fall of 2012 we were looking to expand our herd, and we looked all over North America for the right kind.
It was fate that a small classified ad and a 187 mile drive to Mossomin would forever change our fortunes. When we first drove into the Spring Creek yard and set our eyes on the most power packed set of angus we had ever seen, we knew we had to buy them. Lazy MC Detour sired much of that years calves and we continued to breed them that way for a couple more years. Much of the herd goes back to him, and for a good reason as we have never seen a more consistent sire group ever before. Since then we have used many leading edge bulls including Eye Spy, Signature, Renown, Razor and Knockout to name a few.
A lot of our animals will be artifial inseminated and breeding dates and pasture exposures are to the best of our abilities and our vet’s opinion.
There is no doubt we will miss being in the cattle industry, and all the friendships and bonds we have made through our time. But this will be the first time in we don’t know how many years that Michael would be sleeping in his own bed all winter, and not working at his moms in the middle of the night, making his way outside to do checks. Although we believe she may miss calving more than anyone.
This isn’t the end of the road for us, but will definitely be a different path we take as we pursue other opportunities. However we are confident that we will run into each other have it be through bull sales we attend with the neighbors or cow shows the kids will undoubtedly be attending as they grow up.
Thank you, The Verstegen Family

2lazy creek dispersal | welcome
Welcome to the Lazy Creek Dispersal Sale where the Verstegen family is offering up their entire program that they have worked so hard to build. The Verstegen family works alongside each other to promote and raise the best product available and the Simmental and Red Angus herds that they have built are hard working cows that pay their way. We were thoroughly impressed with the cattle on grass throughout the summer as these cows are production females that will bring a lot of value to the new owners. This is a family operation and even though they have decided to take a new path, the agriculture community is where their heart is and their love for livestock will continue on. Jon-William and Michael are two of the most genuine, good-hearted and entertaining young breeders in the business and they’ll be missed from the purebred sector. We reflect back on their first time exhibiting at Agribition and very few in the barns knew these young breeders at the beginning of the week but by the end of the week, everyone knew of them because of their entertaining approach and they quickly were highly respected in the purebred community. Jon-William and Michael are a pair of great guys with big hearts and to see their growth of knowledge and the impressive cowherd they have built, it makes a guy proud for them on the success they have had in the past, present and future of the agriculture sector.
The Simmental cowherd originally was built from the 3D Simmentals program of Dean & Monica Schwartz which gave them a running start with a great group of cows. 3D cattle are still highly respected and show up often in some of the best pedigrees in the breed. What a great program to build a herd around and the proof is in the pudding when you view this powerful set of production females. The Red Angus herd was sourced from Brian McCarthy who is respected as one of the very best cattlemen in the industry. The Red Angus division that Brian sold the Verstegen’s was a maternal set of cows that raise impressive calves year in and year out. They did things right from the start and surrounded themselves with two proven and successful programs backed by knowledgable breeders in Brian and Dean who assisted them to evolve to where this strong herd is today.
If you want to be associated and do business with good people that genuinely appreciate your interest, then be in Moose Jaw on November 16 and invest in a great program built by Jon-William and Michael. We can’t say enough good about these young breeders and reap what they have sown in a very productive cowherd that will generate the successful buyers an awesome return on investment. Opportunities like this don’t arise often and we have the utmost confidence in these cattle to go out and produce. See you at Johnstone’s in the middle of November for the Lazy Creek Dispersal Sale.

herdsire
What more can we say about Brisk. For us what drew us to him was his full sib sister at Agribition. We are always looking to further our maternal side of the herd and when the opportunity came to buy a leading edge bull stacked with a pedigree like his we jumped on it. Other than his bombproof disposition what you have to admire is his natural fleshing ability. He roamed the hills south of Mortlach and never lost an ounce. The sky’s the limit on this great herdsire, and only the tip of the iceberg has been discovered. It will be fun watching him develop in the years to come; don’t pass on the chance to enhance your herd!

Much like her dam she has a flawless udder and carries a lot of capacity. In all actuality she may have a bit more stretch than her mamma. 1X displays much of what she can do in her very maternal looking bred heifer in the sale. Easily my favourite animal to ever graze our pasture. She has it all from a show quality udder to a stellar front pasture type of confirmation that comes but once in a million. Dean Schwartz said she may be the best female to come out of his herd. She’s so sound that she could pass for a cow more than half her age. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 10. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A super looking bred that is a spitting image of her dam. I’m so excited what the future holds for this bred, and I’m sure her new owner will understand this when she gets milking her first calf. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.

These 505U daughters are just like peas in a pod. The combination with 738T is just a cherry on top. You look around the industry and see how many descendants he has and it will put you in awe. Not only that but they are normally leading ladies in those herds as well. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 12. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
To say 65F is one of our most anticipated up and coming females wouldn’t be a far stretch. Combined with much of what I said with her dam she adds one of the best bulls we have ever raised. Don’t take my word for it ask Ken Sinclair of Flying S Ranch, and ask what he has done for him! PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.
A typical 4X daughter with the steadiness of her maternal pedigree coming out in strides. To add Blue Chip to the pot is nothing more than magnificent. Look for her to turn into a high producer in the future.
Probably the most underrated female in the herd, but probably one of the greats. While making the catalogue I couldn’t help but notice the impact she has left on the herd. I often think that she is just expected to have a retained heifer or bull. She is an “in the trenches” type of cow that will never let you down and you can rely on year after year. AI’d to Blue Chip on March 28. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.

2Y is our most powerful Club King daughter. She also has a perfect udder to compliment her shear mass. With the likes of Power Stroke, Black Joker and Good A Nuff in her pedigree it makes for a special combination. 2Y has produced many top end bulls along with a few leading edge females. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 17. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
Olympian truly left his mark on our herd and with animals like this you can see why we wanted his influence throughout our herd. Her first daughter went to an excellent commercial herd, and she had a standout Blue Chip bull that unfortunately got laid on. Look for her to carry on her dam’s history of producing high quality animals. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 1. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A lot like Olympian his full brother Hercules has left his stamp on our herd. And who else shows off his qualities better than 46F. She is a lot like her full sister (by blood) 37D, and I am sure will be as productive. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1. Observed bred April 7.

If I had to choose a 4X daughter to start a herd off with; this would be her. I can’t write enough to exemplify how great this female is. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 3. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
When breeding Olympian this is exactly what we were looking to do. Add that Linne 33R into the herd. To say she was one of the best Simmental cows ever could be debated. That is why we chose to infuse so much of her into our herd. PE to Springcreek Rocker April 1 to October 1.

Much like her maternal sister 56D she is sired by the maternal titan, Lotto who doesn’t need any introduction. Lotto females have taken the world by storm and are some of the most sought after genetics to get. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 1. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A full sib to 56D by blood. This is just another example of what the Linne 33R x 4X combination can throw. The money strip on the face doesn’t hurt either. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1. Observed bred April 3.
A lot can be said for all these Lotto females we have, but to actually see a complete set of them such as the ones we have on offer is truly exciting. The guess work is done for you, and all you have to do is sit back and enjoy. The Shear Force x Lotto combination is a good standpoint for any type of breed. Look for good things coming out of this female. AI’d to Springcreek Hercules on April 5. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
Another beautiful example of what the Full Throttle bull did in our program. 73F will be a maternal brother to our high selling bull Power Stroke 6Z that sold to Perlinger Simmentals in 2013. They were very impressed with how he developed and his calf crop he produced. 73F should follow closely in his footsteps. PE to Springcreek Rocker April 1 to October 1.

For those who don’t know her sire, Hercules is a full sib to Olympian, and what drew us to him was his moderation, but also his pedigree. 67F is a great example of what we were trying to build for our core. She is setting up a great udder and should produce great offspring. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.
A true powerhouse in the flesh. 10Y is one of the heaviest muscled cows we own. She goes back to a cow we bought off 3D Simmentals that was a favourite of ours up until she left the farm. If you need some performance this cow has everything you need. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 14. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
When walking through the heifers this fall we couldn’t help but pick out this butterball. You can’t truly appreciate all this heifer has to offer until you get behind her and see the shear thickness of her. More moderate than her mother, but every ounce as powerful.
Most likely our heaviest hitter in terms of shear mass in calves. She has produced the heaviest calf for 3 straight years at weaning time. 25Z is quiet as a kitten along with all the other attributes. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 11. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.

This is one of our favorite “D” aged female. Olympian females are very desirable and 9D is no exception. A beautiful uddered cow, she comes complete with sound feet and tons of capacity. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 2. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A typical 25Z daughter with tons of capacity and overall great appearance. We don’t have a lot of Terminator females in the herd, but with the ones we do have we can’t complain when they produce like this one. Nice uddered, sound footed, and always leaves that calf that makes you proud to raise cattle. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 14. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
I sure hope the new owners of the Hercules females love them as much as we do. 30F is a cliché of what the industry needs. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.

A very attractive Lotto female that has an udder second to none. We really feel this female has all the ingredients to be successful in the future. Showing the typical capacity this cow family exemplifies she should be a great producer. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 2. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
We didn’t pick many bulls to put through the sale, but you can’t help but appreciate the true power of this fellow. The job his mamma did is a true testament to what this cow family has the potential to do. A very clean fronted bull with a bit more performance. Look to him to add that little bit of maternal without giving up much performance; as well as a little bit of white stripes that are sought after these days. HOMO TESTS PENDING.
We absolutely love the combination that 25Z and Lotto have produced. The homework is done for you with this pedigree as you can see her full sib and herself provide the same characteristics. A real matriarch in the making with this one. AI’d to Blue Chip on March 28. PE to Sprincreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.

A maternal sister to the bull we sold to Ken Sinclair that was a high seller at Simmsational that year. You can’t help but fall in love with her, as she is one of the most easy fleshing females we have. With an absolutely outstanding udder, this female has all the makings to be a top producer in any herd. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 12. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
Almost a clone to her dam this female has a lot going for her. 112G’s sire is a full sib to the great Gold Standard and is typically used as a clean up, but with the calves he has produced for us I think he could rival any bull we have ever used. Any more capacity and this heifer could pass for a pig.
When looking at 9Z the only word that comes to mind is TANK. Step behind her and see the overall width and you will understand. Maybe her greatest attribute is her picture perfect udder she displays. An all-round cow with lots left in the tank. AI’d to Blue Chip on March 30. Rocker was in the pen on morning of AI so if calf is black then will be a Springcreek Rocker but if red will be a Blue Chip. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.

Probably one of the best animals that will leave the farm and one of the saddest to see leave. 33Z has been a favourite since the day she was born. Always producing consistent and high quality offspring. Not a huge frame but packs a super udder that milks hard. Look for her to build a herd off of. Sells open and ready to flush.
The more and more you look at these 738T females the more you will come to understand how great they are. 37F is probably the pick of the bred heifers in our opinion as she displays what we were striving to produce. Look for big things to come from this outstanding female. AI’d to LFE Bombshell on March 28. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.

Our only other Terminator female and wow is she good. A true testament to this cow family, and she displays this in all of her offspring. It seems you could breed her to a billy goat, and she would still produce a keeper. Look for consistency here. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 16. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
What more can I say about this bull. He will be one of the first you notice in the pen, and it will be hard to take your eyes off of him. The shear sqaureness and overall capacity excites me on this herdsire prospect. Overall attractive bull that won’t miss. Hetero Polled.
When driving through the pasture this is one of those cows that you always love to see. I love how Red Power worked on this cow family. 39C has a ton of power with a clean and tidy udder. She probably reminds me the most of her dam 62T who was a favorite of ours, and first purebred we ever owned. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 3. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 October 1.
Definitely one of the highlights of the heifer pen. Her dam would have been a feature of the sale, but due to an injury won’t be in the sale. Needless to say 43G will be a powerhouse in the industry and has the potential to be at the top of any herd.

This is 62T’s last calf raised and did she hit a home run, no a grand slam. This heifer sums up this entire cow family and before you look at any other ones check her out first. It’s funny how things come full circle as her dam was 1 of 3 purebreds we started off with and now we are offering her last calf to someone to potentially start their own. Buy with the utmost confidence on this starlet, as I hope to hear great things about her in the future.
Much like her mother 120G will no doubt have an excellent udder and produce very saleable offspring. Combine that with her complete outcross pedigree and the breeding capabilities are out of this world.
Here is a neat little pedigree with Limited Black on the top side and Sweet Meat on the bottom. I really liked how the Limited Black females are stamped so we had 5 straws of him and low and behold we got 5 females. They are all similar in their make-up, and come with that tried, tested, and true predictability. PE to Springcreek Rocker April 1 to October 1.

This is the only Sweet Meat female we have in our herd, and we couldn’t be happier with how she has turned out. 28Z’s dam goes back to the group of 3 that we first bought at the 2008 Agribiton sale. We loved the length she displayed there and it has carried on to all of her progeny. 28Z is a moderate cow with a great milking udder. AI’d to Springcreek Hercules on April 19. Another typical Blue Chip female that carries good length and capacity. We are pleased with how consistent the Blue Chip calves have been and the Sweet Meat combo is a nice outcross to many herds.
A fabulous example of a Hercules female. 113E did an amazing job on her first calf, and I’m sure it was no fluke. I am really liking how these Hercules females are setting up udders. Aren’t these Sheriff females to die for? We may not have many but the ones we do are arguably some of the best females in the herd. A bit more smaller framed, but exceptionally beautiful uddered, and seems to pack the pounds on her calves. PE to Springcreek Rocker April 1 to October 1.
This top female comes out of my most prized cow family. Kuntz Precidia was the final piece of the original 3, and the closest to my heart. Predicia was the first animal that I ever showed and had progeny in our show string for 4 out 5 Agribitons we attended. This female is an absolute doll and punched out a massive steer this fall. She will be a highly productive female much like her grand dam was for us. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 11. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
This is the youngest animal in the sale but she keeps up with the ones that are 2+ months older. She is the second calf off of 32D and did she ever hit one out the park. Just flawless in her making, she also comes with a great hair coat. Look for her to be a heavy milker and top producer.

Something a little different here with a red baldy Hercules female. She is always picked out by pasture visitors, and with due cause. Much like her dam, she is a wonderful footed female with great capacity, and overall shape. Not to mention that super Linne 33R udder she has. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 11. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
When shopping for bred heifers 15F is a complete package. Not only did her dam do an excellent job raising both her and her sister, but they are also at the top of the bred pen. A maternal sib sold to the great folks at Townview Farms, and they had a lot of success with him in their program. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.
A twin to 15F the only difference between them is one has a white face and one doesn’t. But an absolute gem setting up that great Olympian udder. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.

This is one female I will have a hard time seeing leave. Nicknamed “Princess” she is nothing short of it. 102F is our only Blue Chip bred and I think she will pave the way for all the other Blue Chip females we have. Please check her out because I’m sure she will be circled in a lot of books. Her temperament is so good you could throw a halter on her and she wouldn’t think anything of it. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.
A bit of a unique blend of In Dew Time mixed with the great Destiny 43K cow. 4Y is a never miss cow with calves either kept back or put into commercial herds. 4Y’s first bull sold to our good friend Nolan Cumming who is legendary for producing a top notch commercial herd. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 8. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A great Rocker female out of the faithful 127W cow. 127W came to us in a package of heifers we bought from Dean Schwartz of 3D Simmentals. 90G is built a lot like her mother with a ton of mass and great thickness.

24W is the matriarch of this family, one of our largest, and with great reason. A direct daughter of the great X-T Destiny 43K cow she could quite possibly be as good. Not only does she produce great calves she has kept great shape through the years. Of her 9 calves to date only 1 hasn’t been kept in our herd but sold into a commercial herd. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 9. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 October 1.
The second youngest calf out of one of our older cows just shows off how strong the maternal side of her pedigree really is. I love these Rocker calves as they grow like weeds, and it seems they are the only thing that grows during a drought.
An absolute legend around here is 1Z. She has produced a saleable animal in all her years of service. Most notably was her Olympian daughter that was one of the high sellers at Simmsational to Dequier Farms in Manitoba. Just in the peak of her production I wouldn’t be surprised if she has more high sellers. PE to Springcreek Rocker April 1 to October 1.
To carry on the legacy of 1Z we present to you 9G. She is almost the spitting image of her maternal sister that sold to Dequier Farms in Manitoba. There is no doubt she will continue on with a great udder and awesome disposition.

This would have been 4Y’s second calf, and boy is she a worker. A nice moderate girl that pops out explosive calves. Out of an absolute champ, 128G provides us with a glimpse of what her mom would have been able to produce if not for an injury that cut her life short. I see great things with this power female. If she’s anything like her mamma she will raise the big ones.
I’m going to sound like a broken record when I talk about these Blue Chip females, but damn did they work. Another highly praised 74B female that should easily sell herself and her mamma come sale day.

Another one of those Limited Black females we got, and a really good one at that. She comes with a solid topline with lots of capacity and extra muscle to boot. She will definitely be an attribute to any herd that she gets sold to. PE to Springcreek Rocker April 1 to October 1. Observed bred on April 13.
101 displays a lot of the same attributes as her ¾ sister 120G. Our main goal for our herd has always placed maternal over everything, and it sure shows with females like 101G. They are just made right and will produce.
Anyone that has Primetime females can’t say enough good things about them. 67C is no exception. A solid footed cow that has produced very good for us. A combination with 24W means that she should produce well into her later years. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 10. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.

When we bred 24W to Hercules we didn’t expect how good it would really end up. Well we were blown away by how the mating worked out, and it just proves how maternal this line is. But it just got super charged with the addition of Linne 33R in it. We had a lot of people trying to buy her as a calf last year, and I am happy we didn’t so we can show off now. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.
A full sib to 36F sold to Ashworths in the 2017 edition of Simmsational, and on all reports they were excited about what her future will hold. A little story on 36F; during a thunderstorm last year a lightning strike spooked the cows and they broke the fence. Well her mom’s udder got caught on a barb and the entire udder became infected. So from about July on she made her own way and did a wonderful job. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.
If I were to write a book on all of our cows, 8Y would have a chapter to herself. She has been a producer for us from top end females to bulls being sold to top purebred producers. One of which sold to Ian Mitchell of Barriere, BC who used a son with great success. She has a super udder and can be bred to anything. Look for her to be a real presence come sale day. Just an absolute beast 68B is probably the best 738T female we own. Her natural fleshing ability will be on full display and should garner much attention. A typical Lotto female with the added bonus of being a descendent of 68B. She has everything you can expect with a pedigree as good as hers; udder, foot, and deep capacity. PE to Springcreek Rocker April 1 to October 1.
The Olympian X 8Y combo worked its magic on this beauty. I think you will find much of the herd is outcrossed, but has the predictability that makes it easy to compliment other leading sires. 103 has the mass and udder to develop steller calves. When it comes to perfection in our eyes 7Z comes as close as you can to it. She is moderate with explosive middle and an udder to die for. You always nut one bull that you punch yourself for nutting, well that would be her’s this year. I have never seen a March calf grow that quick before, and when both Matt Criddle and Scott Bohrson eyed him I knew it was a mistake. So long story short don’t underestimate the potential of this cow family. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 6. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
Phenotypically this female has it all. A beautiful black coat with a perfectly placed heart on her forehead. I wouldn’t be lying if I said I wasn’t excited about what her future holds. Check her out sale day she won’t disappoint.
Like most Lotto’s, 53C doesn’t need much of an introduction. She has done a whale of a job on her heifer this year and I’m sure that will be a constant for the rest of her life. If there was an animal that possessed the most similarities structurally to 8Y this would be her. AI’d to Blue Chip on Apr 8. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.

I tried to refrain from saying any of our cows are donors as I, like most producers believe most of our cows could be. But I believe we should have flushed May with her track record. Every single calf has been kept and either sold through a bull sale or a female sale. We showed a daughter at Agribition that we later sold to Robb Farms, and a feature bull was sold through the In Pursuit of Perfection sale in 2016 to Mar Randa Farms. A true sale feature with all the credentials to be a great one. PE to Springcreek Rocker April 1 to October 1. Observed bred April 13.
A prime example of what 375X can produce and what Blue Chip can offer. This heifer is definitely a favourite from birth and developed into the meat machine she is today. She will pass on the 375X look into her calves, and that can only mean good things for her new owner.
If you were to ask me which of the 375X females are the best? I would be at such a loss I wouldn’t know what to say. The consistency no matter which way 375X is bred is beyond words, but that’s a good thing for you as the homework is done for you in how her siblings have matured. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1. Observed bred on April 7.

A beautiful Olympian daughter that came out a mere 86 pounds and weaned at over 920 lbs. Talk about a gain! 13D possesses an above average muscle expression and maintains the excellent Olympian udder that is desired. AI’d to Blue Chip on March 31. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A wonderful example of a Brisk female. Overall lots of thickness and structural soundness. The added bonus of having Lotto in her pedigree only sweetens the pot. The sky’s the limit on this chunk.
Much like her half-sister 13D, she displays lots of muscle over a square top. One of the things you have to admire about the 375X line is the correctness and great confirmation of the feet and legs. Definitely a herd improver in all aspects. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 8. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.

This was 14Y’s first heifer she had and what a job she did. I love the Club King x Olympian combo as it has proved its worth many times over for us. And what a sweet udder she has to top it off! PE to Springcreek Rocker April 1 to October 1.
A farm favourite from the day she was born. A true testament to her, would be the fact that she lost her mom at 4 months of age and still made the Agribition show string. All of her heifers have been retained, and with the exception of this year’s bull (due to limiting our numbers) all of her others have been marketed. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 10. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
An absolute cutie with a nice blaze. Temperament is next to none with this line. She’s displaying over average muscling and has the capacity of an elephant. 33F will develop into a front pasture female for sure, but the question remains: will it be yours? Once you see a Lotto female I just don’t know if you can look at cattle the same way. They are so sweet and everyone that has one will tell you the same. This is one of the top “E” aged females, and when you see her you can see why. An all-around female in the making here. AI’d to Springcreek Hercules on April 21. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
The last 5 years this cow has been an all-star for us producing female after female for us. So it was with great sadness last year when her bred heifer was struck by lightning. Her “C” aged daughter sold to Boundary Ranch and was a high seller at Simmsational that year. She went on to produce a high selling bull at the famous Southwest Showcase Bull sale. 148X is an udder improver and will make someone happy come sale day. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 7. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A chunk of a bull here that displays lots of muscling and overall stretch of middle. With a mom like 82E and the maternal traits of Brisk, look to build great females with this stud.

Another nice Rocker female with a bright future ahead of her. She is already setting up that nice 148X udder and will have the punch that Rocker puts in all of his calves.
When you first look at 31F you will notice the immense length of body this female has. Along with a good belly stretch and the 148X udder development this female will definitely turn some heads. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1. Observed bred on April 1.

17B would be the most powerful of all the 5X descendants. Red Powers are known for their explosive muscling yet maternal strengths. 17B also possesses the dark red coat that is very desired, and a great udder. AI’d to Blue Chip on March 30. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A strong Blue Chip son that has had a herd sire look from a young age. He is big footed like his dam and will produce calves that will push down the scales.
An Agribition purchase that has repaid us 10 times over. 5X has the capacity of two cows, and has never let us down no matter what she was bred. A few highlights include her Primetime daughter that sold in 2015 at Simmsational as a high seller to R Plus Simmentals, and our feature red bull at the In Pursuit of Perfection Bull sale that sold to A & E Gurney of Tantallon. A great cow with a long history of success. AI’d to Blue Chip on March 30. Rocker was in the pen on morning of AI so if calf is black then will be a Springcreek Rocker but if red will be a Blue Chip. Probably my favorite of the Sheriff daughters as she produces calves that wean off the same size as her. She is more moderate than her dam, but still maintains a dark hair coat and milky udder. 48D is in the top 50% for almost every trait, and likely has the best bull this year. AI’d to Blue Chip on March 29. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
This is likely our best red Simmental bull in the sale, and has a blaze to boot. The maternal power is so prevalent in this herd sire prospect that his mamma weaned him off at over 80% of her weight. This guy is the complete package and should stir up a lot of attention come sale day. HOMO POLLED TEST PENDING.
45E is a full sib to our best red bull we sold in the In Pursuit of Perfection bull sale in 2017. They both displayed an abundance of shape and overall width. I really like how she set up her udder, and should have a long, productive life. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 9. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.

When we bred the powerful 5X cow to the highly maternal Lotto bull we got just what we expected. 34F is a bit more feminine than her other sisters yet will be able to still kick out those performance packed calves. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1. Observed bred on April 4.
A heavy milking bombshell female that is known for her ability to wean off the big ones. Her first calf sold to Prairie View Simmentals of Stalwart. We bought her dam from Kopps for her overall capacity and solid feet. 12Z’s maternal brother was a feature in our bull sale a couple years back who sold to Daron Priest of Lloydminister. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 6. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A Royal Red first calver that did a splendid job on her first calf. Royal Red helped balance some of our smaller framed cows without giving up any udder quality. 5E is as long and deep as they come. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 2. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A heifer that blends the power of Royal Red and the maternal strengths of Brisk. I think this combo will pay in dividends when this female is done her productive life.

Longevity comes natural to this cow family as her dam was 18 years young when we shipped her last fall. We found some teeth in the bunk she was eating out of, and figured it may be time for her to go. 51D carries on the legacy of her dam through her picture perfect udder and overall natural fleshing ability. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 4. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
38F was raised by an 18 year old cow, and did an excellent job of her. Like all the other 738T females she will very desirable come sale day. 738T makes great females with the added touch of producing excellent udders. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.
Like his half-brother 56G, this is probably the best black bull we have on offer. And also like 56G he comes with a cool blaze. I really like the shear mass and depth of loin in this bull, along with strong testicular development.

You can really see the job 738T does on udders with this female. I bought her dam from the D bar C dispersal because I fell in love with her overall stretch and angularity. A trait she has passed on to 23C. AI’d to Blue Chip on April 13. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
This is probably the biggest middled heifer we have in the sale. Along with her dam’s udder quality this female has lot going for her and will settle in nicely where ever she ends up.
A really nice Hercules female with the stretch of body of the 7116T line. She did an excellent job on her first calf and milked very hard. I am very impressed with how Hercules has made his females, and I am sure 92E will pass that on to her calves. PE to Springcreek Rocker April 1 to October 1.

77Z’s sire came to us as a high seller from Tessiers. He just made the right kind of animals and had a long productive life here. 77Z is a super deep female that is known to produce big calves. Her bull calf two years ago weaned at a whopping 1014 lbs and had a yearling weight of 1600 lbs. He sold to Brady Farms of Carlyle as a high seller. AI’d to Blue Chip on March 28. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
I wish we had more of these Primetime females. I like their thickness and ability to milk. With that being said she weaned off over 1400 lbs of calf as she has twins and raised them both without losing any performance. AI’d to Blue Chip on Apr 11. PE to Springcreek Rocker May 1 to October 1.
A bull that comes out of the heifer we won from the sweepstakes at Agribition. Since we decided to give the heifer to the kids to start their own little herd we thought we better not sell her on them. However, we are offering her first bull for your appraisal and what a job she did. Super thick and clean fronted are just a couple of the many attributes this bull possesses. If you need to develop top quality females then this is the bull for you. Owned by Carson, Sophia and Hailey Verstegen.

7Z is probably the best all-around angus cow we own. She has a ton of volume but doesn’t give up any femininity. She has a flawless udder, and stands on solid feet that I think the breed needs. Her dam was designated elite status and grand dam was a high producer herself. 7Z’s heifer calf this year is probably the best angus on offer as well as you can guarantee there is still lots of production to be had with her. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
Not only is 26G one of the best angus heifers this year, she may be one of the best we have ever raised. You will fall in love with these Renown females as much as we have. None of them are throwaways. And with a dam like 7Z the opportunities are endless.
I was really impressed with the udder 22B put together for us. She is a more moderate 7Z female, but can throw big calves. Full Blast wasn’t a bull we used much but he was used with much success. 22B’s paternal brother was one of our past high sellers to Dugdale. AI’d to Razor on March 30. A bit of a unique female, she comes out of a Signature son we only got to use one year before he unexpectedly died. She combines 2 of my favorite females in 7Z and 21Y, and will definitely follow in their footsteps.
A full sib to 7Z, and every bit as good. She raised twins this year, and came out as good of shape as she were 9 months pregnant. Look for her to improve all categories with a real emphasis on udder and shear mass. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
One of my favorite 200Z females. 200Z was Mcmillen’s high selling Angus bull back in 2014 and has produced over 90 calves between our 2 herds. 52C’s biggest attribute would be her awesome udder that is common in her line. AI’d to Razor on April 10. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.

A real special gem here combining the highly sought after Signature bull with 7Z. Yet another full sib to 7Z and 13C. It is great to have these female because the homework is done for you with her siblings. Another powerhouse of a female with a great udder, and wow what a job she did on her second calf. Big time female here. AI’d to Razor on April 13. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
A super sweet Razor female that is at the front of our female pen. As a calf she displayed that look that you knew she was going to be special. 27G has the potential to be a breed changer and has a pedigree that proves that.
A really good Chief 33U female that has had a very productive career with use. A sale feature sold to Nolan Cumming a couple years ago, and has turned out to be a real good herdsire for him. AI’d to Razor on April 19. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.

Volume and correctness are what I think when I see this female. Her dam 14R was one of the original cows we bought off Brian and one of the reasons we bought the herd. Lots of muscle and strong footed. 43E will be a maternal sib to 47T, one of our main matriarchs of the herd. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
A powerhouse Angus cow with lots to offer. She has sent a few nice heifers to local commercial operations along with us keeping a couple. Take a look at her bred heifer, and you will see why she is still around. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
Knockout has been a staple in the herd for a number of years, and this heifer shows you why. 63G is clean fronted and just plain fancy. A prospect in the making here.

We were fortunate enough to breed Detour for a number of breeding seasons and a lot of our cows go back to him. 23Z is one of my favorite examples of a Detour daughter for overall length, depth, muscle mass, and a tip top udder. A true herdsire in the making with tons of upside. You have to look no further than his sire; the great Lazy MC Tradition, to see how powerful his lineage is. 21G matured quickly on pasture and had the bull look early on, which always made it a pleasure to go see him. I’m sure he will turn heads come sale day as well.
An awesome Renown female out of the very productive 2X cow. I just really like how these Renown females are made and I’m sure you will too. If she turns out anything like her dam you will be in the buck. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.

85F was one of the first heifers that was put in the keep pen. We loved her dam so much it was a no brainer. The best part is she is another Renown which sure sweetens the pot. A mix of Detour and Razor that seemed to really work out. Mix that with the strength of 23T and this heifer has a lot of potential. She will make a beautiful bred and raise fancy calves.
When we first toured Brian’s Angus herd we couldn’t help but notice this donor type cow. One could say she alone was one of the reasons we were interested in buying the herd. I have never to this day seen any Angus cow with as much natural muscling with a show quality udder. She has produced many high sellers and replacement females through the years. A highlight would be the $15,000 Detour son 6Z that sold to Frey Angus Ranch, and has gone on to produce many sale toppers for them. In 2018 she was designated Premier status which is quite a feat. Definitely a flush quality female here, and will still produce for years to come. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
87E is out of Brian’s high selling black Angus bull that sold in 2015. He turned out to be a red carrier so we used him on a couple cows. He did an above and beyond job for us and this cow is an example of what he can do. Our aim with the herd was to breed black sires and get outcrossed reds. So Rising Star fit in nicely. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
A Detour daughter of the legendary 23T and full sib to the 6Z bull that sold to Frey Angus Ranch in 2013. With tons of muscling she also displays lots of stretch through her middle. Just an all-around nice looking cow. AI’d to Razor on April 14. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.

The great thing about having so many full, ¾, and ½ blood siblings is the consistency you have in your herd. 23T crossed so well with Detour it is a no brainer to keep a good thing going. 5D is as good as any of them. AI’d to Razor on March 30. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.

A nice 200Z female out of a 23T X Detour cow. 78C had a beautiful Renown bull last year that got injured in the winter. She can sure pack a big punch in her calves. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
A maternal sibling to 78C, but sired by Lazy MC Tradition. 19G grew great all summer and is maturing into a wonderful looking female. Tradition will without a doubt provide this heifer with lots more volume.

21A is a maternal sibling to 23T and like her sister is packed with power and performance. The dam of 21A was the deepest and most naturally fleshing female I have ever seen in any breed! She looked like a hippo! 21A raised a spectacular bull last year that sold through our sale. AI’d to Razor on April 10. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
A nice Razor female with an outcrossed pedigree. I think these Razor calves are going to be special in the future, and this is your chance to get ahead of the game. Dam was a moderate made female with an awesome udder.
Yet another home run Detour hit. With this female. A mix of calving ease and power, what more could you ask for? A super uddered moderate female with a ton of upside. She is a herd builder for sure. AI’d to Knockout on March 29. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.

This cow has been a top producer in our herd since her first calf. I absolutely love this cow, and what sweetens her pot is she is a direct Mulberry daughter. Just take a look at the daughter she raised this year and you will see what I mean. She has donor qualities written all over her. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
If there was cow I could build a herd around, I think it would be none other than 1E. I love her pedigree and love her appearance even more. She had a sweet calf that would have probably been a bull if we were to sell in the spring bull sale. She has donor written all over her, and would have most likely been flushed if we had the cows longer. AI’d to Razor on March 30. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
How can we possibly replicate a cow like 10Y? Well this Renown female is very close. What a star she is, and what a female she will make. Just look at the Renown breds in the sale, and just fast forward a year.

Possibly one of the most power packed females in the Angus industry. Not only is she muscled, she has a ton of width and capacity. She has produced many replacements, as well as bulls we have sold. 25Y’s Renown bull last year was one of our highlights and sold to Nolan Cumming. AI’d to Razor on April 10. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
A full sib to one of our feature bulls in our 2019 bull sale. This is a female that will have lots of friends come sale day. Her overall completeness compliments her outstanding pedigree.
A smaller cow with a big production record. She milks like a Holstein yet doesn’t have an ugly udder. Her steer last year was among the biggest we had, even though it was one of the youngest. AI’d to Razor on April 19. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.

An 11X daughter off of the Detour son 6Z that sold to Frey Angus Ranch in North Dakota. A highly attractive female, with the milking ability her mamma possesses. Should be a good producer in the future. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
A lot like her dam 22Z, 1B is a powerhouse cow, with performance written all over her. I really like how these Full Blast females turned out, and I am sure you will as well. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
A maternal sibling to 25Y, but made just a bit different. A bit more feminine looking with a finer look but every bit as good. I really think the Lark family sure compliments this line, and I am sure will make her new owner happy. AI’d to Razor on March 31. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.

I always think that if the calf has the name number as their dam that they will be special, Well that is true of this heifer. A standout since birth she will make an outstanding female.
If you like your females dark red and pretty then this is the female for you. A herd favorite, she has always turned heads from pasture visitors. Her first 4 bulls were all features in our sale, and her last 2 females are our best replacements. To say she is exceptional is an understatement. Wherever she goes she will for sure be a staple, and continue her productive life. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.

One of the most talked about females in the herd, this cow is an absolute dandy. Another donor quality type cow. 42A has produced some of our nicest females. She has a show udder, and just plain show look to her. A cow that will find her way to the front of any pasture. AI’d to Razor on April 16. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
A typical Razor female with lots of upside. I really like the width of her topline, and how clean fronted she is. Will make a great female and potentially be a front pasture one.

One of the best Angus bulls we have raised. Just ask the boys at Belle Plain Colony how they like these 20Z bulls, they have 2 of them! 29G will be an udder and foot improver along with overall correctness.
Most likely the biggest bull producer in the herd with her previous four sons selling through our bull sale, and this year’s bull selling through this one. The Belle Plain Colony has bought 2 of her sons and Rose Hill Farms and Stacy Meisner have bought the other 2. Hope for a heifer with this cow cause it should be a money maker like her dam. AI’d to Razor on April 12. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
A fine example of a 42A female. A red carrier that bred right can make a crazy pedigreed animal. Our vision for the herd was to introduce black genetics and I firmly believe that 15E is an accurate representation at what we were planning. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.

The milking ability sure came to light with this cow this year when she weaned over 1300 lbs of calf on the first of September. We usually pull twins off of our Angus cows but decided to leave hers on to see what she could do. We were astounded by the results and even more pleased by the shape she came back with after weaning. AI’d to Razor on April 13. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
Renown sure hit it out of the park with this bred heifer. She is an absolute doll, and will follow in her dam’s footsteps to be a top producer: The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree as she is a carbon copy of her mother. PE to Millington Brisk April 1 to September 1.
A productive standout, 40X has always had great calves. She has produced 3 bulls that have gone on to top commercial herds, and a standout Razor bull that will be sold through this sale. 40X is moderate made with sound feet and a good udder. AI’d to Razor on April 3. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.

A favourite of ours when we bought the herd, 21Y has not disappointed in the productivity as well as keeping great looks. It would be hard to find another female with the capacity that she has. To go along with her great mid-stretch and performance is to drool over. She has raised a bull that sold to Danny Bergeron in Quebec, and also a Signature bull we used for a year. AI’d to Razor on April 16 and 17. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
I love the 21Y X Knockout combo, and this bull is an example of why. This bull will sure raise females everyone wants and males that will be sought after by buyers alike.
A cow you really have to appreciate. She brings all the characteristics of a good female and displays them in this fancy package. Like her dam she is outstanding quite often being hard to load without a good scratching. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.

Adding Renown to the 21Y line was a success. This fancy bred will sure be able to turn some heads come sale day. The thing I love about the Renown animals is the fact that there are no throw aways, and they are very consistent. 110F will go out and work for her new owner there is no doubt about that. AI’d to Razor on April 7. PE to Millington Brisk May 1 to September 1.
A deep middled cow much like her dam, but in a darker colour. This cow has a great disposition and has never failed to produce good offspring. If you are into EPD’s this female is in the top 10 percentile for birth weight, milk, and total maternal. As well as top 15% for calving ease and 30% for weaning weight. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
The first calf off of 4A, 62C has been a good producer in her own right. She had a bred heifer off of Knockout last year that looked very promising, but lost her calf in January. 62C can sure crank them though, as you can see in this year’s breds. What a great job 4A has done for us from her first calf, which we kept and will be selling as well. She raised 2 monster steers last year so milking ability is definitely there. 4A is top 20% for birth weight and calving ease to top her off. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.

What a job 39B did on this heifer. I really like the way this heifer combines mass, muscle, and correctness all mixed in with a feminine structure. A well balanced female that has a bright future.

These twins are completely identical, not only in make up but in how they act, with a top notch disposition. Sometimes when you have twins there is a weaker one or one noticeably different. These two came out only a couple minutes apart, and I couldn’t tell you which one was first because by the time I got to the barn they were both up and going to town on 8C’s udder. Two great bulls that deserved to keep their parts intact.
It’s hard not to be repetitive with these Renown breds as there are so many comparable features in all of them, which says a lot about predictability of these females. Like her sisters, 111F is a complete female from head to tail!v AI’d to Razor on March 29. PE to Millington Brisk April 21 to September 1.
Talk about a producer, this cow has produced 5 calves in 3 years. Two of them are bulls in this sale. 8C herself has never lost an ounce of fat. We decided to pull one of her bulls this year as we didn’t want to drag her down but I’m sure she could have successfully left them on. AI’d to Razor on March 28. What a plug of a heifer 90F has turned into. To think that she has done this solely on a forage diet is nothing short of a miracle. It is a testament to the fact that these females are as easy keeping as you can get which just means more money for you. AI’d to Knockout on April 25. PE to Millington Brisk May 1 to September 1.
I really like how this female is made up. A bit more of a moderate female than her dam, but excellent feet and udder. When picking over replacements last year this heifer was scored higher than some pretty good Renown females that sold to a good commercial farm. I believe this heifer has a ton of potential and I expect her to go out and make her new owner proud. AI’d to Razor on March 29. PE to Millington Brisk April 21 to September 1.
A tank of a first calver, rest assured she put a lot into her calf this year. 131E is identical to her dam in looks, as she is a powerful female. You will definitely notice her on sale day. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.
12E is an exceptional female. Yes she has short ears, but it isn’t due to being born in the cold. Her head got pee’d on when she was a week old in the cold. This female might get overlooked for that small detail so be sure to have her circled as she could be the biggest sleeper in the sale. AI’d to SAV President on April 11. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
2D is a very correct looking female. She is in the top 15% for birth weight and top 25% for milk. A highly maternal female yet has that extra bit of punch that the Angus breed needs. PE to Knockout April 1 to September 1.

This has to be my favourite female born on the farm this year, and for a good reason. 3G was born with a white birthmark on her forehead, and not it’s not a spot. She also turned out to be one of our most complete heifers, so that didn’t hurt my feelings either. I will miss this heifer and will keep tabs on her in the future.
8E is a full sib to LCF Private Eye 1D our highest selling angus bull. A lot like her brother, 8E is a power packed female that has calving ease in pedigree. I wish I could’ve gotten more Eye Spy females as they are all peas in a pod. AI’d to Razor on April 1. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.

A moderate 11Z daughter, which will have super longevity with 200Z on her top side. 50C has a perfect udder much like her dam and grand dam before her had. A good female with a tried, tested, and true pedigree. AI’d to Knockout on April 17. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
A deep bodied female with a ton of muscle expression with that nice Detour udder. 11Z’s dam was a cow that never lost her youthful look, much like 11Z is displaying. AI’d to Razor on April 6. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
1A is a full sib to 11Z, but made a bit more moderate, 1A is a very eye appealing female, with a spectacular udder that this line is famous for. Don’t look past the female as she has the potential to raise a great one. AI’d to Razor on April 12. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.

Just what the Angus breed needs is this red cow with black parents. Not only is she a complete outcross with everything in the Red Angus industry she is also a very attractive looking female. 10D did an excellent job raising her calf this year, and I’m sure she will do another good job of her next calf. Great pedigree. Owned with Brian McCarthy. AI’d to Razor on April 4. PE to Knockout May 1 to September 1.
What do you get when you mix a black pedigreed red cow with a many time show champion bull like Tradition? You get this outstanding looking female with a ton of potential. Breed her how you like as she will perform.
