ServicesWelcome Friends The winds of change are blowing. Already we can smell a slight crispness in the breeze at Heavenly Scent as mother nature stays current, constantly changing. In an efforts to follow her example, we too are striving to stay current with our new digital brochure. In addition to the change in format and delivery system (direct to your in-box) you may notice 12 brand new classes in this season’s brochure. We are thrilled to offer you workshops with a fresh perspective on everything from cooking and art to health science and seasonal decorating! No matter whether you are part of the Silent Generation (those born before 1945), a Baby Boomer ( 1946-1964), a Gen X-er ( 1965-1980), or a Millennial (1981-1995), staying current certainly requires flexibility and broad thinking. Attending a few of our classes will help you with this! While the digital age is definitely here, there is still nothing like the in-store experience. Visit Heavenly Scent and you will be inspired by our ever changing displays. Our Autumn and Halloween rooms will premier August 18, which we think is BOOtiful. Our holiday rooms will bedazzle you by October 22.

Don’t miss out!!

We look forward to sharing our changes with you.

Create an inspirational piece of art for your garden! Using copper wire, copper pipe, colorful glass and beads, you will construct a 4’ copper tree. When the breeze comes by the tree chimes. We have had one in our faerie garden for 12 years and it is still beautiful. Please bring wire cutters, gloves, and needle-nose pliers. You may bring additional beads if you wish.

If you have previously attended our Cleanse & Regenerate Workshop - Part 1 and feel ready to take it to the next level, this workshop is for you! Instructor, Debby Solomon, owner of Nurtured by Mother Nature asks that you bring your specific questions and situations with you to this class. She is an herbalist, certified detoxification specialist and aroma therapist. She will answer your questions about yourself or those you care about. In this workshop, you will learn how to take each case, break it down and learn how to address the areas that are causing symptoms. It is REQUIRED to have attended the Cleanse & Regenerate Workshop - Part 1, or you will not have the foundation to benefit from this class.

Join Steve Mathews in celebrating his favorite dishes for a harvest dinner. You will enjoy slow-roasted pumpkin soup with shiitake mushrooms and apple cider cream, a salad featuring roasted pumpkin seeds, goat cheese and a pumpkin vinaigrette, herbal bread and butter, apple-pecan stuffed pork tenderloin with an apple cider glaze, red skinned potatoes with rosemary and a wonderful pumpkin dessert. Recipes will be provided for you to take home!

Kathy Mathews will help you to fashion a simple, elegant or elegantly simple 18” hydrangea wreath. First, she will guide you in picking just the right fresh hydrangea blossoms from the shrubs at Heavenly Scent. You may choose from Annabelle, pink Diamond, Starburst, and/or White Swan shrubs. The colors range from green to white to pink. You’ll then go into the design room to construct this lush, gorgeous wreath completely out of the hydrangeas you have chosen. The flowers will dry onto the wreath in about three days. Please bring glue gun, glue, and garden clippers.

Start out the season right! You will first be treated to a hearty dinner prepared by Steve Mathews. Dine on delicious tortilla soup and a grilled chicken sandwich featuring sweet pepper jelly and Havarti cheese on Asisago bread. Finish on a delicious note with pumpkin spice cake for dessert. During the second hour, Kathy Mathews will present innovative and unique decorating ideas for both autumn and Halloween. Afterwards, shop for Autumn and Halloween treasures to enhance your own home. Wicked good FUN!!!!!

Learn all about paper-making! Karen O’Neal, of Ann Arbor, with 20 years of experience will fill you in with a brief paper-making history and then launch into several demonstrations. She’ll show you how to: form a sheet, add color, texture, and blossoms, create papers of irregular size and shape, make paper with a different color on each side, and how to make a pocket. Next, you can try your hand at what she has demonstrated. You will break for lunch so bring your own lunch, and then afterwards, learn about wet collaging, landscape paper and more. Then you get to play some more! The day will end with a demonstration of how to make something from your paper once it has dried, such as a note-card and envelope or a small booklet. You will create at least 10 pieces of paper. This class will be held in the greenhouse. All supplies are included.

Ellen Stallcup is back with all of the supplies you need to create your very own peace pole! You will begin with a three foot tall, 4”x4” wooden post, drilled so that you can use the accompanying PVC pipe to display it in your garden. The base coat will be a cheerful yellow and you will paint the words “Live, Love, Garden”. Then Ellen will teach you how to enhance the pole with daisies, foliage, and bugs. All levels of painters are welcome! What an easy way to bring bold, beautiful artwork into your home or garden!

Your eyes are more than just windows to your soul!! Nerve endings from all the tissues come up through the brain and end in the eye, offering so much information! Discover and learn about this fascinating art and science that was discovered over 150 years ago. By studying the iris, the colored part of the eye, we are able to look inside and “see” the condition of the entire body, including all of the internal organs. This knowledge can help you strengthen your weak areas, often before symptoms are even realized. Presented by Debby Solomon, who is an herbalist, aroma therapist and a Certified Detoxification Specialist and is also the owner of Nurtured by Mother Nature.

Ellen Stallcup will instruct you on how to paint a trio of chubby snowmen named Peace, Love, and Joy. Your “canvas” will be an old vintage window (sizes ranging from 24”x31” to 36”x28”), with frames featuring peeling paint. Early birds get to choose their windows first. Ellen will supply paint and brushes. All levels of painters are welcome!

Welcome your guests with this classic holiday decoration. Kathy Mathews will show you how to create a 14” wreath using fresh boxwood, fresh seeded eucalyptus (plum & green), fresh juniper with berries, and pine. You will also add pine cones, ribbon and dried pomegranates. The wreath dries wonderfully! Please bring scissors and garden clippers.

Kathy Mathews will show you how to create an herbal advent wreath for your holiday centerpiece. The roof of your faerie home will be covered in pine cones and you will add tiny battery operated faerie lights.
