Welcome Vista PEAK Teachers!Welcome to the greatest profession! Your energy for learning, students and their passions makes you a wonderful addition. We have no doubt the difference you will make in the lives of learners and to the field of eduction.
Go Fishing Down the Hall
While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about
“
Go after it with your students. Challenge
them, challenge yourself, and take risks
together. Leverage natural creativity that
flows from you and your students. There
will be restrictions, roadblocks and hurdles.
Fight through these for what is best for
student learning.
Open the World of Learning to Your Students and Open Your Students to
the WorldLinking technology, engagement, and
learners with powerful instruction is a must
in the 21st Century. Do it! Don’t be afraid.
If you receive resistance, state your case and
paint a picture of what is possible. Be a
model if they need it. Confront every yeah,
butts head on!
Establish your Design Sense for the Learning SpaceWhen your students enter the
classroom, let them feel and see the
values you hold dear. Move away
from the traditional, sterile classroom
that will be standard-operating
procedure for many. It is easy to go
with the flow and succumb to the
expectations in place. Resist and
bring to the school, the classroom,
and the students the learning spaces
they deserve!

PoWeR is an acronym for Post Secondary and Workforce Readiness. In line with our vision and philosophy and as part of our innovation plan, we have worked to extend learning opportunities for students. PoWeR sessions can take three forms: The Academy of Math and Literacy, Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) and Intervention. PoWeR Sessions are also an opportunity for teachers to share their passions with students. Staff members are assigned to the PoWeR Session from October 18th-26th or April 1st-9th. The last PoWeR Session from June 10th-20th are reserved for off campus experiences such as trips to Washington DC, Puerto Rico, etc. We have assigned each of you to a PoWeR Session. Please see the following links to view your assigned sessions.

SUMMER READINGAt VP we place enormous emphasis on professional reading at the foundation of our professional development. In order to continue to foster our ability to formulate a positive climate and culture as well as equip ourselves with different perspectives around equity, we have selected the following titles: We Can’t Teach what We Don’t Know by Gary Howard and Flip Flippen’s the Flip Side. These books are intended to support our ability to foster powerful relationships with students by breaking out of our own personal constraints and broadening our perspectives around equity and access All staff members are expected to read the text and be ready to discuss the content during the first week back to school! If you wish to select your own choice book, please speak to your Director today. Staff will receive salary advancement credit or re-licensure credit. Please indicate which book you will read by filling out the SUMMER BOOK STUDY SELECTION FORM Please make your selection.
