• Chinese nations, they are commonly eaten by humans • The penis is generally cooked by steaming or deep
frying, and can also be eaten raw • Believed to boost sperm count and cure for ailments
• Contains a lot of testosterone…women are not encouraged to eat it

Century Egg (introduction)• Century egg is a Chinese cuisine ingredient made by
preserving duck, chicken or quail eggs • They are placed in mixture of clay, ash, salt, lime, and rice
straw for several weeks to several months • After the process is completed, the yolk becomes a dark
green, cream-like substance with a strong odor of sulphur and ammonia
• the white becomes a dark brown, transparent jelly with little flavor or taste
• Century eggs can be eaten without further preparation, or
added to porridge
Rotten Shark
• Hákarl ( icelandic for “fermented shark”) is a basking shark which has been cured with fermentation and hung to dry
• It has an acquired taste and has a very particular ammonia-rich smell and fishy taste.
• Those new to it will usually gag involuntarily on their first attempt and are advised to pinch their nose while taking their first bite
• It has been often described as disgusting, horrible, hardcore and not for beginners
Pla Ra (introduction)• Pla ra is fermented fish, popular in Northeastern Thai
cuisine.
• It is made by pickling several varieties of fish, mainly Snakehead Murrel and herring
• The fish is cleaned and cut into pieces, after which it is
mixed with salt and placed in big buckets • They are left ferment for three months
• One can tell if Pla ra is fermented by looking at the number of maggots
CANNED CHRYSALIS• Before emerging as a butterfly, a caterpillar goes through a stage during which it is called a “chrysalis.” • A popular snack in South Korea. Also known to be a great side dish when drinking alohol
3) Escamoles
• Popular dish in Mexico. Ant larvae, harvested from the root of the agave (tequila) plant. • In some forms of Mexican cuisine, escamoles are considered a delicacy and are sometimes referred to as "insect caviar". • They have a cottage cheese like consistency, and taste buttery and slightly nutty.
Scorpion soup (introduction)
• A soup made from scorpions • Preparing can be a dangerous task. A chef was
stung while preparing this soup• Scorpions are eaten in the south of China. • They are reared in people’s homes, then sold in
the markets. • Scorpions have a woody taste and should be
eaten whole, except for the tip of the tail
Bread (Body bakery) •Thai Fine Art student and artist Kittiwat Unarrom is the son of a baker.
•All that baking exposure growing up has been a clear influence, but his artistic need to see things a little differently definitely flared up as he created the tacitly named “Body Bakery” – brutally, gruesomely, almost unbelievably realistic looking sculptures of dismembered human body parts sculpted entirely from bread
Casu Marzu (description)
• “Casu Marzu” means “rotten cheese” and is most commonly referred to as ‘rotten cheese’ and is most commonly referred to a ‘maggot cheese’
• The sheep’s milk cheese has had the larvae of the cheese fly, Piophila casei, introduced to it.
• The cheese has to be eaten when the maggots are still alive because when they are dead it is considered to be toxic
• Diners have to sheild their eyes or place the cheese in a sealed paper bag first (larvae can jump when they are disturbed)
• Health issues have arisen (allergic reactions, intestinal larval infection)
Raw blood soup (introduction)
• Raw blood soup is a dish made with raw blood of ducks or geese, with peanuts and herbs on top
• It is originated in Vietnam
• This is made by taking fresh blood and consume immediately with beer
• Blood soup tastes strangely metallic
