Principal’s News
The COVID-19 event of the last few weeks is of great concern. At this time, the Qld government has de-cided that schools will remain open and it will be up to parents to decide if they will keep their children at home. Some families are keeping their children at home as a part of the social distancing measures against the COVID-19 virus and the numbers attending each day has been decreasing.
At school we are still open and staff are still teaching and planning for the future. The teachers have com-menced planning resources, for all students, to be sent home for students to do, if the school were to close.
The student work packs will also have the teacher’s email addresses. Students, parents and carers will then be able to communicate about the student work with their teacher. The first work packs will be delivered to homes if the school closes. The completed student work will be dropped back to the school office verandah, for the teachers to mark. The following work packs will also be picked up from the office veran-dah, at the same time that the previous work is returned. Details of these arrangements will be included with the first student work pack.
While the school remains open it is, of course, most important that the school remains free from any ill-nesses. It is very important that students stay home if they are unwell. If children are at school and are unwell, they will be sent home.
Because of the uncertainty of the COVID-19 virus situation, many school events have been cancelled. There will be no Open Classrooms next Wednesday ( 1/2/20). Rewards Day will be held over until it can go ahead. In term 2, the ANZAC Day parade and ANZAC Day March have both been cancelled along with the Cross Country.
On a much more positive note, the school did have 8 excellent weeks of learning before the COVID-19 virus sent us into this unknown territory. Many students completed their assessments and I am hoping that these responses will keep COVID-19 virus out of our community and that we can return to normal learning, sooner rather than later.
Kind regards,
Kathy King
Principal.
