DAVIES SPORTS THE EXPERTS
Ball Type – A match ball is great for use in a game or as high level training ball. The ball material and bladder are selected for a combination of responsive performance and durability whilst training balls are exceptionally durable and are built to take hours of training with the best possible air retention.
Casing - Three types of synthetic material can be used to make footballs: PVC (Poly Vinyl Carbonate) generally used in training balls,
PU (Polyurethane) generally used for a more optimal performance football and a PVC/PU mix. A PU ball is softer than a PVC ball and a PU cover makes a ball much livelier than PVC. A PU coated ball is the preference of most players because their livelier however there are some great balls made out of high-grade PVC.
Bladder - The part of the ball that is filled with air is usually made from two primary materials latex and butyl. Latex bladders are softer,
with a better feel and do not hold air as well as butyl. Many balls use butyl valves for better air retention.
To ensure you choose the ball most suitable for you take into account what you want to use the ball for and the surface you will be playing on. The below key system will give you a clear guide to choosing the ball most suitable for your playing surface.
