ALLEGED NEED FOR US MILITARY PRESENCE IN THE PHILIPPINES Pres.
G.W. Bush declared the Philippines as the Second Front in the US
war on terror. The US government expanded its military presence and
direct intervention by establishing permanent bases in the
Philippines in the guise of just being visitors with the alleged
aim of ensuring regional and global security. Pres. Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo visited the White House and received $100 million
from President Bush to fund the counter terrorism and counter
insurgency campaign in the Philippines.
