If you’ve been thinking about joining the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, but just aren’t sure how much you’d benefit from a membership, well now’s the time to find out with a little tutorial: a Chamber 101 online course. They’re scheduled twice a month: on the second Thursday from 8-930 a.m. and the fourth Thursday from 4-5:30 p.m. There’s so many benefits the Chamber offers it’s a daunting task to become familiar with all of them, even for seasoned chamber members. From ribbon cuttings, to Business After Hours to your entry in the Business Directory to special discounts at member businesses, these few things only scratch the surface of what you’ll get with a chamber membership. Right now the Chamber 101’s are being held remotely so if you’re not a member, just give them a call at 603.332.5080. And if you want to give yourself a leg up on understanding all the benefits before you, register to attend a Chamber 101 by visiting:

What’s Been Going On at the Chamber?
WORKING TOGETHER ON YOUR SUCCESS
It’s been over 3 months since the COVID-19 began and our lives changed. I am sure none of us ever imagined something like this could happen let alone change our businesses and our lives so much and in such a short time. We have all been navigating new ways of doing business and communicating safely with each other. Much of the economy has reopened and we are making some progress, but it is not the same and may not be for some time. How do we keep our businesses profitable? Several competitor businesses are sharing ideas on new business models, business adjustments, how to maximize revenue and reduce costs, servicing with less staff, sharing resources and more. This change is bringing many closer together in an effort to survive and keep our community vibrant. If we can help bring you and others in your own industry or others together, we want to help with the recovery effort.
Your Chamber continues to follow a great deal of data to be able to disburse information quickly to businesses on available resources. We continue to communicate with city and state officials to inform them of the challenges businesses are facing. Chambers across the state conference remotely on a weekly basis with each other and the NH Business & Economic Affairs (BEA) Commissioner, Taylor Caswell, to provide feedback and share ideas.
Be sure to visit our website at www.rochesternh.org and check our e-blasts for information and resources. Each e-blast contains new information you may need to know.
Your continued recovery is important. Let’s work together to make this happen. Contact your Chamber so that we can help your business be successful.
The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce has been running a Community Connections programs, sponsored by Atlantic Broadband. These remote discussions cover a variety of business and community topics. You can view recordings from these past sessions on the Chamber home page at www.rochesternh.org. Last past month, we featured a discussion with restaurant owners/managers regarding changes in operations, financial assistance programs, unemployment, supply chain and more.
Our thanks to (left to right), Patrick Gagnon, Granite Steak & Grill; Bob Benoit, Mitchell Hill BBQ & Brew; Natalie Holiday, 110 Grill; Tiphanie Healey, The Farmer’s Kitchen; and Heather Stachura, Lilac City Grille for discussing the challenges and opportunities amid the COVID-19 situation.
CHAMBER ASSISTING MEMBERS DURING PANDEMIC
CHAMBER REOPENING PLANS The Chamber office and building has been closed since businesses began closing due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Staff members have continued to work at the office with the option of working from home. All of our meetings have been done remotely for the safety of all. As we prepare to reopen, we have instituted some changes at the office for the safety of our employees. As we are an organization that welcomes and communicates with its members and the public, and offers an information center to visitors to our community, we have installed a service window. Additional literature racks were purchased for brochures and maps that were available in the office, and they will be able to be picked up in our entrance. This will allow us to continue to greet and provide information to customers when the building reopens.
