TSA at The University of Auckland

The TSA programme at The University of Auckland is dedicated to helping students

improve both their English proficiency and their understanding of Language, Arts and

International Business.

The University of Auckland was established in 1883 and is New Zealand's leading

university, with about 40,000 students, of which 5,000 are international students. It is a

research-led University, and is recognised internationally. The University is located in

the heart of cosmopolitan Auckland, the country’s largest and most vibrant city, in

which students are never far from breathtaking scenery, beautiful beaches and

New Zealand is an excellent place to study international business given the dependence

of its economy on international trade and investment. New Zealand’s exports are

culture and those of Europeans settled in a remarkable new environment.

Auckland, which is New Zealand’s finest and offers Waseda students a unique

opportunity to study international business, arts and related fields. Students will enrol

in a full-time load of four courses (60 points) per semester in the Faculty of Business

and Faculty of Arts, which offers a broad range of diverse courses.

Students taking part in The University of Auckland’s International Student Orientation

programme will be presented with information about living and studying at University

of Auckland, offered advice on strategies for getting the most out of University studies

and introduced students to the unique culture, beautiful landscape around Auckland

City and also to other international students.

lifestyle, and practice English in an everyday situation.

Then with the assistance of The University of Auckland staff, students may choose to

move to alternative accommodation, or continue in homestay. Other accommodation

options include university hostel accommodation (subject to the availability of places),

and university approved apartment facilities adjacent to the campus. Advice can also

be provided on renting accommodation for single or shared use.

Students and for the promotion of internationalisation on campus. It's a place where

students will find workshops and information sessions to help them adjust to both life

at the University of Auckland and in New Zealand, and a place that hosts heaps of

activities for students’ enjoyment and for the coming together of people from all

nations.

University Clubs: There are nearly 100 clubs and societies on campus (administered by

AUSA, the Auckland University Students' Association), and the range of activities on

tramping, cricket or rugby, to more sedate pastimes like international cuisine or poetry,

students will be able find a club to suit.

learning.

Language and Skills Exchange: The LEX Programme is targeted at helping students of

diverse cultural backgrounds to help each other learn. This is done by pairing students

who are fluent in one language or proficient in some other skill with another student

who has a relevant skill or language to exchange.

Spark Vision to Business: The Vision to Business Course is a free 15-week course

delivering the kinds of entrepreneurial skills needed in the business world today.

Taught by Business School staff practitioners, the course provides information on topics

such as identifying a business idea, marketing and financing a venture.

Facilitation Plan

There is a dedicated Program Coordinator who, in conjunction with academic and

personal support services, will be available to Waseda students from their arrival in

Auckland. Students will have regular meetings with the Coordinator, and will also be

able to contact them by email and phone, if need be.

Students will meet with the Faculty Student Adviser for course selection and to discuss

any academic concerns which may arise during their course of study.
