• First-hand data
- Data you use collected by you• Second-hand data- Data you use collected by someone else• Survey- Collecting data by answering questions• Tally- “Ticks” on a table to show data collected

Ways of Collecting Data:Observations- Watching what happens and writing it down
• Questionnaires - Respond to questions on paper
• Interviews- Ask questions and write down answers - Phone, In-person etc.
• Experiments- Test and record your results- Chemistry Experiments
• Databases- A table containing previously collected data- Weather in Newfoundland in 2009
• Electronic Media - Using technology to get data (computers)
Questions To Ask:
• What method of gathering information do you think would be the easiest? Why???
• What method of data collection would you use to find out the average amount of milk a grade 6 drinks? Why???
