Up, Up, and Away
KOWALSKI CHRONICLE MARCH 2022
It ‘s true that Three Hills, Alberta doesn’t look
quite like this in the throes of winter, but it does
give you a glimpse of the stunning landscape our
flight school students experience in the pursuit of
their commercial pilot license. I (Keith) had the
opportunity to visit the Prairie Aviation Training
Centre for two weeks in February to assist with
the annual Approved Maintenance Organization
audit.
The goal of the flight training program at PATC is
to provide a high quality of flight training to
aspiring aviators, some who are preparing for the
mission field. Others will stay in Canada and work
in the aviation industry here. Because many of
our instructors are highly experienced MAF pilots,
the training imparted sets the students up for
success, no matter what career path they pursue.
The audit was a tremendous learning experience
for me, and a great chance to strengthen
relationships with the team out in Three Hills. It
was my first time on the auditor side of the
process, the first of many that I will be involved
in. However, my years in Uganda gave me plenty
of exposure when our flight program was audited
yearly. It was my honour to be involved in the
audit, and I was very impressed with the
professionalism of all involved.
In January, I enrolled in a Risk Management class
with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
It was my first time in a long time being a
T
university student and the workload was intense.
However, the course cemented a great deal of
the content that I have already been working with
and proved very useful as I was recently co-
opted onto the MAFC Audit and Risk Committee.
Is it okay to say that I passed the course with
flying colours? God is seldom early, but He is
never late.
Much of my time and attention at the end of
2021 was focused on managing COVID-19
protocols, security issues affecting staff travel
(especially through war-torn Ethiopia), and
terrorist attacks in one of our host countries.
Thankfully, the safety and security issues seem to
have settled down for now. I am also heading up
the MAFC office Joint Health and Safety
Committee, and so I am in the midst of learning
all I need to know to ensure we provide a safe
work environment to our staff. I continue to learn
daily as I grow as an aviation safety professional.

NEW BEGINNINGS
Jacob came home for Christmas and ended up staying with us for this semester while he is going to
school. We LOVE having him here. After the two-year separation, it is sweeter than sweet.
Abigail is staying in the dormitory at U-Waterloo, and loving it there. She comes home periodically
with her laundry. LOL! Both Jacob and Abigail are doing very well in school and enjoying being part
of Zoom Bible Studies and Youth Group.
By November and December, Cheryl was missing her friends in Uganda and Saskatchewan
desperately. Most of all she missed the groups she met with weekly to study scripture and pray with
because she saw so many amazing miracles and big things accomplished with united prayer. A friend
who served alongside her in Uganda and retired to California told her about an organization called
Moms in Prayer International. This group facilitates getting Moms with kids of similar ages and stages
to meet to pray for their schools and community. When she inquired and they interviewed her, she
discovered that they had been praying for some time for a mature Christian to lead groups in the
Cambridge district. Now, they are training Cheryl to fill a leadership role. She is also networking and
seeking out women who want to cover their children and their schools in prayer. It’s an excellent
framework, and the one hour a week spent with the group is so soul-nourishing and powerful. Our
loving Heavenly Father always hears and responds to prayer.
During a three-week corporate fast to kick off the new year in the direction God wants us to go, He
showed Cheryl a few things, and she is stepping into some new roles at Calvary Church Cambridge.
She loves teaching in Children's Ministry and soon will be helping in other areas too. At MAF she
helps out when they do missionary training that requires childcare for the candidates and she loves
caring
and praying for the little ones who are destined for life on the mission field as well.
Cheryl has started teaching piano (one student so far besides Lily and Xander) and is loving that.
As we have been making friends in the neighbourhood and homeschool community Cheryl has
enjoyed being able to encourage and pray with and for other moms, and always takes opportunities
to pray for people on the street and in the shops. She has connected with strangers in so many
incredible ways, making new friends and sharing about Jesus at every opportunity. She was recently
asked to take on a role of being in charge of planning monthly spiritual development meetings for
the Cambridge homeschool parents and is very excited to help families find the tools that will help
them and their kids succeed (the main tool for that is Jesus as He reveals himself through the
Scriptures) if you are reading this and are struggling with anything physically, spiritually, relationally,
or emotionally, call Cheryl, she will happily pray for and encourage you.
Cheryl will be in Saskatoon from March 28th to April 2nd. It's a quick trip, so ourdear friends at Hope Fellowship have offered to host an evening to help her
connect with as many of you as possible. Come and join us for a sweet time ofwonderful music, delicious food and uplifting fellowship. Come ready to
celebrate God's goodness , receive prayer, and hear Glory Stories!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!Even though we are serving here in
Canada, we still count on your
prayers and financial support.
