Microchip offers its free Configuration Utility to allowdesigners to make fast customizations. Microchip alsoprovides designers with a firmware library for furtheroptimization and control if needed.

The MTCH6102 family serves a wide range ofapplications in the consumer electronic (e.g., remotecontrols, gaming devices, wearable devices such asheadphones, watches, fitness wristbands, and track pads),and automotive markets (e.g., automotive interior controlsand control panels), among others.

The MTCH6102 is supported by Microchip’s low powerprojected capacitive touch pad development kit (part#DM160219; US$49.00).

Maxbotix’s popularsensor is now

available in a new designwhich is physically shorterthan any of their currentoutdoor sensors, allowingeasy integration intoapplications. The newUCXL-MaxSonar-WR seriessensors are flexible OEM-customizable products

intended to be integrated into a customer's system with ahorn, or designed for flush mounting into an existinghousing. These rugged high performance sensors areindividually calibrated to provide quality.

Mounting design recommendations are providedthrough Maxbotix’s 3D CAD models (available in multiple

formats) to facilitatethe design process. The UCXL sensors areRoHS and IP67compliant with propermounting design, andthe sensor layoutoffers fourconveniently placedmounting holes fordesign flexibility.

The UCXL-MaxSonar-WR comeswith easy to useoutputs and standardpin configurations ofprevious MaxSonar products. There are three standardsensor outputs of RS-232 serial (TTL output available uponrequest), analog voltage, and pulse width. These sensorsfeature 1 cm resolution, an operational temperature rangefrom -40°C to +70°C (-40°F to +160°F), real time automaticcalibration (voltage, humidity, ambient noise), 200,000+hours mean time between failure, an operational voltage range from 3.0V-5.5V, with a low3.4 mA average current requirement. These sensors are alsoRoHS Compliant and CE Compliant.

Kionix, Inc., has announced a new integrated sensor hubdevice — the KX23H — which combines a high

performance, very low power three-axis accelerometer witha 32-bit ARM Cortex™-M0 microcontroller in a single 3 x 3 x0.9 mm package. The KX23H also includes a library ofadvanced motion processing software, providing the userwith pedometer and caloric counting algorithms, as well asactivity monitoring and the ability to detect differencesbetween states such as Stop/Walk/Run/Car/Train, etc. Inaddition, the KX23H includes embedded algorithms forTap/Double-Tap, screen rotation, tilt, and other commonapplications.

The KX23H's microcontroller runs at 32 MHz. With theability to accept additional inputs such as gyroscopes, magnetometers, and pressure sensors — and the capabilityto run sensor fusion software — the KX23H can reducedemand on the system CPU or application processor, reducepower consumption, and simplify system architecture. TheKX23H marks the first time Kionix has offered a sensor hubdevice.
