My brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries, let us call to mind our sins.

I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault,

in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and

in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints,

and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.

hearers beg that not another word be spoken to them. But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the judge

of all, and to the spirits of the

righteous made perfect, and

to Jesus, the mediator of a new

covenant, and to the sprinkled

blood that speaks a better word

than the blood of Abel.

On one occasion when Jesus was going to the house of a leader of the Pharisees to eat a meal on the sabbath, they were watching him closely. When he noticed how the guests chose the places of honour, he told them a parable. ‘When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not sit

down at the place of honour, in case someone moredistinguished than you has been invited by your host; and the host who invited both of you may come and say to you, “Give this person your place”, and then in disgrace you would start to take the lowest place. But when you are invited, go and sit down at

the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he may say to you, “Friend, move up higher”; then you will be honoured in the presence of all who sit at the table with you. For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.’ He said also to the one who had

invited him, ‘When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbours, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. And you will be blessed,

because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.’

Homily

Profession of Faith We believe in One God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father, Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven;

by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures;

He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the Right Hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

PREFACE

Father, all-powerful and ever- living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord. Through his cross and resurrection he freed us from sin and death and called us to the

glory that has made us a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people set apart. Everywhere we proclaim your mighty works, for you have called us out of darkness into your own wonderful light. And so, with all the choirs of angles in heaven,we proclaim your glory and join in their unending hymn of praise:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Lord, you are holy indeed, the fountain of all holiness. Let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The Lord’ Supper

Before he was given up to

death, a death he freely

accepted, he took bread and

gave you thanks. He broke the

bread, gave it to his disciples,

and said:

“Take this, all of you, and eat it:

this is my body which will be

given up for you.”

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said:

“Take this, all of you, and drink from it, this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:

When we eat this bread,When we drink this cup,We proclaim your gloryUntil you come again.

Lord’s prayer

Let us pray with confidence to

the Father in the words our

Savior gave us.

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
