TVNZ Online Ad Specifications
Standard Ads
Leaderboard• Location: Top of all pages.• Dimensions: 728x90 Pixels.• File Size: SWF 40k, GIF/JPG 20k maximum.• Sound: Audio must be user activated.
Rectangle• Location: Homepages and within the body of the story pages.• Dimensions: 300 x 250 pixels.• File Size: SWF 40k, GIF/JPG 20k maximum.• Sound: Audio must be user activated.
Small Banner• Location: Within the watch tab of News and Sport article pages.• Dimensions: 468 x 60 pixels.• File Size: SWF 30k, GIF/JPG 30k maximum.• Sound: No audio allowed.
Sponsored Link• Location: Feature at the bottom of the right column on the Home page and within article pages across News, Sport and Television.• Text: 80 characters maximum including spaces.• URL : Either a normal URL or a click tracking enabled URL.
Example Creative:
Video Rectangle• A rectangle unit containing video must be hosted and polite loaded by a third party ad server, e.g. Eyeblaster or DoubleClick Motif etc. • The Play/Stop and mute/un-mute controls must be built in. • The sound must be user initiated unless the video playback is triggered by the user • The original Flash file size must be no more than 40kb and the maximum file size for video is 1.5Mb. Please talk to us if you need to exceed this limit for your creative execution.
Floating Layers• The floating layer can appear over our lead image as long as the site loads first allowing the user to have a glimpse of the lead story. It may not float over other advertising campaigns.• Duration: Maximum 15 seconds.• Sound: Sound should only play while the mouse cursor is over the Floating Layer, or by user click activation.• Frequency Cap: To display once per unique user per day. • Close Button: Floating Layers must have a clearly visible click to close button, e.g. [Close X]• File Size: File sizes that exceed the standard 40k file size limit, must “polite load” through a rich media adserving solution provider.
Expanding Leaderboard• File Size: File sizes that exceed the standard 40k file size limit, must “polite load” through a rich media adserving solution provider.
• Dimensions: On expansion, approximately 728 x 240 pixels.• Image Display: The expansion must be initiated by user mouse over. The expanding element must close automatically once the user scrolls off.• Sound: Must be user initiated by a click.
Expanding Rectangle• File Size: File sizes that exceed the standard 40k file size limit, must “polite load” through a rich media adserving solution provider.• Dimensions: On expansion, approximately 500 x 250 pixels with expansion to the left.• Image Display: The expansion must be initiated by user mouse over. The expanding element must close automatically once the user scrolls off.• Sound: Must be user initiated by a click.• Close Button: Floating Layers must have a clearly visible close button, e.g. [Close X]

Rich Media Ads
If requested creative materials do not meet the specifications expressed below, TVNZ will be unable to commence the campaign (Applicable for all advertising).
Creative DeadlinesStandard advertising units must be received no later than 3 working days prior to the commencement of the campaign.
All Rich Media Advertising (Floating Layers and Expanding Banners etc) must be approved at least 10 working days prior to commencement of the campaign, with creative received no later than 5 working days prior to campaign commencement.

Click-throughsAn active linking URL, not exceeding 128 characters, must be provided with all creatives. Click-through URLs must not contain spaces or the ‘&’ character.
Banner ads must have the following clickTag ActionScript 2 on a transparent button that covers the entire banner:

Note: Continue in the same format for further buttons.
Please do not use the word 'clicktag' (in upper or lower case or a combination of the two) as a layer name in a flash file.

General Info
All Video Ads need approval from the Commercial Approvals Bureau; more information can be found on their website - We can retrieve materials from eBus/Dubsat/Adstream if the Video Ad has already been dispatched to one of the three systems; if you choose to supply us the video files directly, please follow the below specifications and provide files in both .mp4 and .flv formats i.e. six files for each Video Ad.
Video ads across all TVNZ platforms must be -24 LKFS, i.e. Loudness compliant. More information can be found here: http://www.commercialapprovals.co.nz/documents/Commercial_Production_Standards.pdf
