Introduction:

Noiseinducedhearinglossisthemostcommonoccupationalhazardforworkersandis100%preventable.OSHA’sHearingConservationProgramisdesignedtoprotectworkerswithsignificantoccupationalnoiseexposuresfromhearingimpairment,andinvolvesnoiselevelmonitoringtoidentifyallnoiseatorabove85dBA.

Operatingmanysourcesofequipmentatworkincludingaforklift,acircularsaworworkingnearagenerator,requirestheemployeetoweartheappropriatehearingprotection,andparticipateinahearingconservationprogram.

NoisecontrolrequirestheuseofPersonalProtectiveEquipment(PPE),whichincludesearplugsandearmuffs,andmustbeusedincompliancewithOSHA’sstandard29CFR1910.132andallotherapplicablehealthandsafetystandardsalongwithuserinstructions,warningsandlimitationsthataccompanythePPEusedwhileatwork.Ifyoudon’tprotectyourhearing,youwillloseit.
