General:

Mark Kavanagh, who both had runners accepted at todays meeting, were granted a stay of proceedings
until 5.30pm Thursday January 21st 2016 by VCAT.
Race 1 - WILLIAM HILL MAIDEN PLATE - 1400 metres:
Ibtisama - has not raced since January 2015 due to immaturity; underwent a veterinary examination after
arriving on course and was passed suitable to race. Led and shifted out under pressure in the straight.
Withstood protest. Rider Craig Newitt reported his mount raced greenly and laid out.
Surf Coast - slow to begin. Held up from the 250m when disappointed for a run and went to the line
having not been fully tested. Fourth placegetter; prior to Correct Weight rider Harry Coffey lodged an
Objection against Ibtisama (second placegetter) alleging interference in the home straight. On the
evidence it was established that Ibtisama was shifting out under pressure in the straight however Stewards
did not believed Surf Coast had obtained a run to the outside of Ibtisama and therefore the Objection was
dismissed and Correct Weight was declared on the Judges placings.
Regal Witness - connections advised would be ridden with cover today; settled mid-field with cover.
Began awkwardly.

in future where able to dictate terms. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any
abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis.
