The "Franklin Institute of the State of Pennsylvania for the pro-
motion of the Mechanic Arts," encouraged by the success of their
previous efforts in affording annual opportunities for a great display of
the products of American skill and industry,~respectfully announce
that they have determined to hold an Exhibition of American Nanu-
thctures in Philadelphia, which will be opened for the reception of
Goods, on Friday, the 16th of Octobr~,r next i and on Tuesday, the ~20th,
visiters will b~ admitted to the Exhibition, which will continue open
until Saturday, the .~Ist.
I t will, as usual, be conducted under the management of the Corn' mlttee on Lxlnbmons, and governed generally by the same I/egulations
as have been observed at lbrmer Exhibitions, with such alterations and
improw~ments as experience has shown to be desirable or necessary.
The Manufacturers and Mechanics, who have heretofore deposited
m our Exhibitions creditable specimens of their productions, have ex-
perienced the advantageous effect thereof., in the extended knowledge
thus given to th(~ public, of the novelty ar excellence of their respec-
tive articles; and those who have hitherto neglected to do so, will
doubtless find it their interest to avail themselves of the opportunity
~,~,hich is now offer(,d.

Ihe work-shop and tim laboratory :--whatever is excellent, iml~roved
or creditable in the vast iieht of American enterprise and ingenuity,
will be gladly received and conspicuously displayed. The Exhibition
Roon~s hav~, beer~ materially altered and improved, so as to afford
greater facilities and accommodations, than have been heretofore en-
joyed, tbr the proper arrangement of the vast mass and variety of ar-
ticles usually exhibited.
The interest of the Exhioition ha~ I)~en ahvays much increased by
the display of working machinery ~ and those who have machines or
mo&'ls which they wish to exhibil in practical operation, are invited to
send them. Steam power for the purpose of working them will be
provi&'d in Ih,> lower saloon.
