Take a marker or pen, and for every scenario (listed
below) that your child has been through in their life, put a
dot on the brain.
Experienced physical abuse. Went through neglect. Moved to multiple homes beforepermanency occurred. Experienced sexual abuse. Witnessed domestic violence.Experienced drug and/or alcohol exposure before birth. Lost a first family memberthrough death. Experienced emotional abuse. Experienced malnourishment as a
youngster. Lived in a volatile environment for a time being. Struggled through identityissues as a result of their adoption. Witnessed sexual acts from a caregiver.
Experienced abandonment by their first parent or care giver. Went through a difficultpregnancy or delivery as a baby. Experienced bullying. Experienced encarceration. Was
homeless for a time being. Went through a period of time where they had to fend forthemselves. Was neglected as a newborn baby. Lived in a highly fearful environment for
a time being. Was on the run from a birth parent, or law enforcement for a time being.
