Types of Title I Programs
• School Wide– All students are targeted for assistance
• Target Assistance– Requires students to be pull outs
Qualifications for Title I Funding
• 40% of the students or more qualify for free and reduced meals
• Student standardized test scores determined by LEA’s
Parent Involvement
• Parents are provided a compact about Title I
• Parents must be notified of Title I services
• LEA’s determine what information is provided
Impacts Discipline
• Singling out can occur• Most students in fact, look forward to
participation• Discipline can occur due to self-
esteem issues
Instructional Requirements
• Curriculum must be challenging• Adequate yearly progress must be
present• Separate measures must be available
for:– Disadvantaged– Racial and Ethnic groups– Disabled– English Language Learners
• Results must be valid and reliable
Teacher Specific Regulations Regarding Implementation
• Teachers and paraprofessionals must be “Highly Qualified”
• Ongoing professional development is required
• Students must make progress and be tutored if necessary
• Applies only to teachers that teach core curriculum and design plans for the core subjects
