11 Tips to Survive Freshman Year
1. Go to all campus tours; get to know your way around campus, the faster that happens the
more comfortable you will feel about college.
2. Expect to be prepared for class such as brining all needed material to each class. Being
organized can also be helpful!
3. Find your ideal place to study, make sure there is no distractions that could affect your
studying.
4. Make an effort for good grades, such as making time for studying.
5. Go to class, by missing class you could also miss necessary information from the
professor about an upcoming test or changes on due dates.
6. Become an expert on due dates; look at the calendar the professor provides you with or make
your own calendar with upcoming deadlines on assignments.
7. Find a balance between social and academic events; be a part of a club or sport, but do not get
behind in your studies.
8. Get help from study resources on campus such as going to the library, getting a tutor,
and/or creating a study group.
9. Keep track of your money; find ways to stretch your money like making a budget. Also,
credit cards and student loans can be helpful but keep in mind you WILL have to pay
them off someday!
10. Eating right, getting enough sleep, and making time to exercise. It’s always important to
keep yourself healthy!
11. Make time for yourself. College can be very straining, so it is essential to take a deep
breath and relax, just take some stress off your day.
