Dear Parish Family, I am very excited to be your new pastor. Since I am new, I thought that I would tell you a little about myself. I was born in Alexandria, Louisiana when my father was stationed at England Air Force Base. My father was a pilot and career Air Force officer. He and my mom were both natives of Davenport, Iowa. We traveled a lot when I was younger. We lived in Thailand for two years and Germany for four before moving to Montgomery when my dad retired in 1980 when I was 12 years old. I went to Our Lady Queen of Mercy School and Montgomery Catholic High School. I went to the University of Notre Dame for my freshman year and then entered the seminary where I was studying for a religious order. After graduation I realized that I was called to the diocesan priesthood so I entered the seminary for the Archdiocese of Mobile. I went to the Pontifical North American College in Rome and was ordained a priest on July 18, 1998. For the past four years I was the Vicar General and the Rector of the Cathedral and pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Mobile. Before that I was pastor of St. Ignatius in Mobile from 2006-2011. This summer I will celebrate 17 years of priesthood. God has blessed me so much with the gift of priesthood and it is a privilege to be your parish priest. This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ which is also known as Corpus Christi. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith as the Second Vatican Council stated. In the Most Holy Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Jesus, we are united to Almighty God and to one another. May the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, burning for love of us, keep us always in His love. God Bless, Msgr. Martin

Life Line Screening
Do you know how to recognize the warning signs of a stroke? If you or someone you know is experiencing any of the below
symptoms, call 911 right away. It is important to seek medical treatment immediately.
· Sudden Numbness · Difficulty Speaking · Severe Dizziness
· Loss of Coordination · Sudden Loss of Vision · Sudden Intense Headache
· Brief Loss of Consciousness
Protect your health by finding out your risk of having a stroke by participating in the Life Line Screening that will be at St
Bartholomew Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Through ultrasound we evaluate the carotid arteries for the buildup
of fatty plaque, which is the leading cause of stroke.
Register today for the Stroke, Vascular & Heart Rhythm package, which includes four screenings: carotid artery, abdominal aortic
aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease and atrial fibrillation Also, we are happy to announce that Life Line Screening is working with
us to provide our members $10 additional discounts off of a screening package in addition to a $10 donation to St Bartholomew
Catholic Church. Please note that you must sign up on either the provided registration sheet (available on the flyers) or by calling
the special Helping Hands registration number, which is 1-800-324-9458, in order for us to receive our $10 donation as well. If
you prefer to visit the exclusive Helping Hands website to register, you may do so by visiting
www.helpinghandsforhealth.com. You must sign up one of these three ways in order to get both the $10 discount as well as
the $10 donation for our organization.
