I enjoy seeing a beautiful snow! Most of us do! It can be
fun to be “snowed in.” Especially if the power doesn’t go out!
We had a nice snow last weekend. Deep cold came with it.
Sunday morning, I looked at my outside thermometer, and it said it
was – 2 degrees! The ice and cold temperatures were so severe, we
did something unusual. We had no worship service at all. The
main problem was that our parking lot had several large sheets of
ice that wouldn’t melt!
The snow Sunday was a blow to our church financially,
especially given the fact that our prior two Sundays had been
Christmas and New Year’s Days! We’re in such a challenging
situation, that without significant gifts in the remaining Sundays
of the month, we may have to dip into our emergency reserves to
pay our bills. We may also have to consider curtailing some of our
much-needed ministries.
Our church members have always been faithful and
generous in their giving, and have responded to our budget needs
with open hearts. I’m deeply grateful for that. We ask you to
please be faithful and generous in your giving this month. If you
got behind in your giving due to the holidays and bad weather,
please catch up. If you have some extra to give, this would be a
good time to give it!
Our kidCREATE program has gotten off to a great start
this year. Last year, we experienced a drop-off after the Christmas
break. Not this year! We had more than 80 children!
An expanding ministry like this requires lots of volunteers.
We have great ones working now, but we can always use more! If
you would like to be part of a rewarding ministry to children, many
of whom don’t go to church, then contact the church office and tell
us you want to help!
See you Sunday!
Special Request… Please make all checks payable to FBC. If your contribution is
intended for another organization or for a special fundraiser,
please note so on the memo line of the check - do not make the
check out to the other organization or fundraiser. John Baxley
reminds us that FBC cannot legally deposit a check made out
to another organization. For example, if you want to make a
contribution to Waynesville Middle School, make the check
out to FBC and note Waynesville Middle School. Thank you!
