to Casino Night. The participants had such a good time they

donated $100 to Polio Plus!

Judy Wirkner had a Memorial Day celebration which was

highlighted by the ringing of a special bell which was a gift

from her husband. She thanked Ken Holbrook for donating

the bell to Casino Night so her husband could surprise her

with it on Valentine’s Day.

President Scott declared every member was a bell ringer for

the meeting.

The visiting Area District Governor Dennis Geare congratu-

lated the club for winning the highest honor - Club of the

Year in District 5190.

Pat Ward invited the members to a special lunch and tour at

North Star Mining Museum on Monday 6/11/18.

The Rotary field trip to the River Cats game will be August 24.

Please rsvp by 7/25 to join in the bus ride

to the game.

New Member Janet Ryan was inducted. The

honors were done by Carol Lenhard and Pat

Ward. Janet works in insurance, and having

lived in several different states, she had found

that Nevada County, CA is the best.

Jon Peek introduced the speaker, Wade Laughter. This was a

discussion about cannabis as an agricultural

plant and its beneficial medicinal properties. He

is a master cannabis cultivator known for identi-

fying and propagating the high-CBD cannabis

strain known as Harlequin. Through his foun-

dation, Harlequin House, he works with people

in need, continues his research, speaking and

activism to educate and promote the healing effects of cannabis.

The Physical Education award

went to Forrest Harrison for

setting a new record time in

the 1 mile.

Acknowledgement and thank you’s

went to the Lyman Gilmore Leader-

ship Club for their participation in the

Rotary Bike Challenge. Bob Long

and Diana Hendry presented the

school club, which has 60 members, a

check for $800. Marie Kittle and Lisa

Love are the club's advisors. Marie

thanked Diana Hendry for her assistance and advisement to the

club. She was presented a plant as a thank you for her ser-

vice. Also recognized were Josiah Sax and Connor Mozeman of

the Gilmore Student News Network. Rotary

will also be making a contribution to the

group this year.

Announcements:

Lee and Joanne Osnas recently hosted

a pizza party that was their contribution
