President’s Message By Bill Munch, CPPB

Oh my gosh, it’s November already! Thanksgiving is just around the cor-ner and the stores are gearing up for old St. Nick. One more of these President’s Messages after this one and I will be handing the reigns over to Joe Guy. Where has this year gone? In October, we wrapped up the CPPO and CPPB Review Sessions. We are confident all those who took the test during this testing cycle will be successful. We should be proud of the professionalism we display and know that Procurement is job one! Our 2016 Regional Conference and Vendor Expo was held on October 20, 2016 in Mesa. The conference is our premiere affordable professional development opportunity of the year. The Game Show theme was fun and exciting. We had close to 90 vendors that you and your end users were able to visit with. I want to thank the conference committee volun-teers for making the event such a success. Special thanks also goes out to all the vendors that supported us and our visitors from the Copper and Grand Canyon Chapters! There were so many great educational sessions going on it was oh so hard to choose which to attend. Congrats to every-one involved.

September Luncheon Recap

President’s Message (Continued from previous page)

In November, we have a one-day class on Effective Decision Making at Tolleson Union High School District. Sorry, this one is so popular it is filled! For those who signed up through the U.S. Communities grant, please please please be aware that if you fail to attend or make arrangements for another chapter member to attend in your place, we will be forced to charge you the full fee for the class. We don’t want anyone missing out. Finally, for this calendar year, is our annual Holiday and Awards Business Meeting on December 13th at the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT). Our lunch will be served by the high school students in the Culinary Department that attend EVIT. I am so excited that our chapter is able to support these students that will be the restaurateurs of tomorrow! If you have never had the opportunity to experience what EVIT has to offer, you are in for a treat. There is no cost for this meeting as a holiday thank you to all of our members. However, if you fail to attend or send another member as a replacement, we must charge $20.00 for no-shows. Seats are going fast so I would register right now if I were YOU. Thanks again, everyone and Go Purchasing Go!

Sincerely, Bill Munch, CPPB AZNIGP President, 2016

This workshop held on

September 19th and 20th

was designed to cover

the structure and mean-

ing of enforceable con-

tracts. As purchasing pro-

fessionals we are re-

quired to organize, write

and interpret contracts

everyday. This seminar

offered tips and tricks on

the language that can be

used when writing con-

tracts.

Our class was very di-

verse with a mix of pro-

curement staff from state,

school, city, and county

agencies. We had mem-

bers come from all over.

It was great to share what

other agencies are doing

and their best practices

and the challenges they

face when dealing with

vendors and legal when it

comes to contract issues.

Our instructor, Mr. Mi-

chael J. Kolodisner,

CPPO, shared his nearly

20 years of purchasing

and legal experience.

Mike does training and

consulting for both private

and public organizations

throughout the United

States, Canada, Europe,

Asia and South America.

Mike is a recognized ex-

pert in his field and made

this class very enjoyable

and interesting.

Thank you Christina

Jimenez with ADOT for

facilitating and providing

the location.

27th Annual Regional Conference The 27th Annual Regional Conference and Vendor Expo was held October

20, 2016 at the Mesa Convention Center in Mesa.

Attendees enjoyed a productive and informative AZNIGP Regional Conference.

The all day event featured a vendor trade show, keynote speaker, luncheon meet-

ing, after hour social event, and more than a dozen thought-provoking class ses-

sions given by public procurement professionals.

The day was a huge success with 90 vendor booths and 260 members in attend-

ance. Plus more than 50 employee walk-ins from member agencies.

Our members also donated items to our charity organization, St. Vincent de Paul

and raised $408.00. Thank you for your generous contributions!

Thank You Sponsor Vendors We want to thank our sponsor vendors for their participation and support.

Gold Sponsors: 1GPA, U.S. Communities, National IPA, and The Home

Depot Pro.

Silver Sponsors: Arizona Gym Floors, Keystone Purchasing Network,

National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA), NPPGov, Valley Schools Management

Group (VSMG), and Wholesale Floors.

Without the assistance of these sponsors, and participation of all vendors, our

tendance they help pay the conference expenses which help reduce the cost to

members.

Thank You Speakers Thank you to the many volunteer speakers who graciously took the time to share

their knowledge and help our members by providing valuable professional devel-

opment.

Charity News As public servants, each of us supports the communities in which we live and work every

day. The Arizona State Capitol Chapter of NIGP believes it is important to give back to our

local communities and support those who support others.

The December luncheon is the last opportunity to donate to The Society of St. Vincent de

Paul.

Please bring your charitable contributions so we can help those in Arizona who are less fortu-

nate. Your donations helps the St. Vincent de Paul’s mission to feed, clothe, house and heal

our neighbors in need.

Your donation provides hot meals for families living in poverty, family friendly dental clinics,

eases the suffering of seniors and provides food boxes to deserving families.

St. Vincent de Paul prepares and serves 4,000 meals every day in their 5 dining rooms.

Please consider giving to help them provide hot, nourishing meals for our hungry neighbors.

Let’s show our support for this charity by donating the following items at the December lunch-

eon:

MOST-NEEDED ITEMS:

* Peanut Butter

* Canned Meat

* Canned Fruits & Vegetables

* Soup, Stews, Chili, Beans

* Rice and Pasta

* Cereal-Whole Grain, Low Sugar

* Cash Donations
