WewrotetoyouearlierinMarchtoannouncethattheAprilmee;nghasbeencancelledoutofconcernforthehealthandwellbeingofourmembersandourguests.WehaveseparatelyreceivedwordthattheArtGalleryofBurlingtonwillbeclosedthroughoutMayandJune,soIthinkitwillbesome;mebeforewemeetagaintogether.Inthemean;me,wewillcon;nuetocommunicatebyHi-Lites.YourManagementCommiIeewillcon;nuetoreviewthesitua;onanddeterminewhentohaveournextmee;ng.Also,theStraLordeventthatwehopedtoenjoyinAprilandthesmall“OntarioGleaners”tourscheduledforJune4havebeencancelled.Ourhard-workingEventsCommiIeewillprovidemoreinforma;ononthisandothereventsthatthey

haveplannedforus.

BynowyouhaveheardplentyofwarningsabouttheimpactofCOVID-19onyourpersonallife.Weareadjus;ngtothenewnormalofsocialdistancingfromeveryonearoundyou.Itrytogoforawalkintheneighbourhoodmostdaysandfindthatmostothersdoingthesamethingtakeawideberthastheypassyouandobservethe“walk-don’tstop”rule.Hopefullyourdiligencewillbeenoughtolevelouttheincidenceofthisvirus.

Wearebeinginundatedwithnewregula;onsfromourpoli;calleaders.IthoughtyoumightbeinterestedinsomeofthechangesproposedbyRevenueCanadathatmayaffectourmembers.Ofcourse,thesechangeswillhavetobeconfirmedbyLegisla;vechanges:• CRAhasextendedthedeadlineforfilingourindividual2019personaltaxreturnsun;lJune1,2020.However,ifyouareen;tledtoarefundoraGSTcredit,youshouldnotdelayfilingyourreturn.• Thereisalsoataxdeferralavailable.TheCanadaRevenueAgencywillallowalltaxpayerstodefer,un;la_erAugust31,2020,thepaymentofanyincometaxamountsthatbecomeowingonora_erMarch18,2020andbeforeSeptember12020.ThisappliestotaxbalancesthatwouldotherwisebedueattheendofAprilandinstalmentsthatwouldnormallybedueonJune15.

The2020GrummeOCurlingTrophyYourwarriorsgaveittheirbest!ValiantlystrugglingthroughalleightendstheycameupjustaliIlebitshortandhadtoawardthetrophytothegentlemenfromProbusBurlington.MilburGilesandDawsonKilpatrickranagreatspielandwewereprovidedwithawonderfullunch.Wedidnotcomehomeemptyhanded.TheCryingTowelwaspresentedtoourPresident,BillWillsowhohaspromisedtohangitprominentlyinhishomeforthenextyear.

Hopefullytheyhavearrangedwithfamily,friendsorneighbourstodropoffsuppliesandgroceries.Pleasemakesureyoucheckwithanyofyourfriendswhohaverecentlyreturnedfromtheirwintervaca;onstoseeiftheyneedanyassistance.

Onapersonalnote,inearlyMarchwereturnedhomeearlyfromaplannedlongweekendinEllicoIville.Unfortunately,mywife,Dorothy,hadabadfallontheskihillandbrokeherleg.Wespent;meintheorthopedicclinicinEllicoIvillebeforewereturnedhometotheemergencywardandthefractureclinicatJosephBrantHospital.Fortunately,thecarewereceivedattheseclinicswasfirstrate.Wewereturnedaroundintheemergencywardandfractureclinicinrela;velyshortorderandsheisnowbeginningtheslowprocessofhealing.IamalsofindingoutthatIhaveskillsthatIdidnotknowIhadasIampressedintoac;onasacookandahouseboy.Consequently,wehavebeenforcedtokeepalowprofileathomeandtoobservethesocialdistancingrulesaroundus.

Withthedailybriefingswereceive,itdoesn'tlookpromisingthatthispandemicwillflaIenoutbyMay.Asseniorswemustbeextracarefulofassocia;oningroups.Letsbesafeandprotectourhealth.
