YOUTH SUMMER EVENTS
THIS SACRED MEAL
Today we celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Each of the readings includes a blessing and a sharing of food. They remind us of the central place of meals in our lives. Each meal brings to mind other meals: the sharing of cookies and milk, pizza and beer, loaves and fishes, bread and wine. When we prepare a meal for our family, our friends, even strangers, we always put something of ourselves into the preparation and the meal itself. The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ reminds us of what God put into the preparation for this meal that we celebrate today. We share this sacred meal and are transformed as we remember the death of Jesus and the sacrifice that nurtures our faith, sustains our lives, and supports our work.

OUR LADY OF THE SNOWS 3 THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
QUINCEAÑERA CELEBRATION On Saturday, June 29, 2019, we will be celebrating the 15th birthday of Liliana at 11:00 am mass. The Quinceañera plays a very important role in the Mexican-American culture.
Quinceañera is a celebration of Liliana’s baptism, and the promises once made by her parents Angelina and Rolando Chamale are promises that she, as a young adult, chooses to take responsibility for.
Liliana as a young woman chooses to deepen her relationship with the God who loves her; and with the support of family and chosen friends, chooses to live as God calls her to.
Quinceañera is a rite of passage. Liliana has chosen friends to walk with her and to support her decision. These persons will treat her with dignity and respect in a world that does not hold these gifts sacred.
Liliana has several godparents for this occasion. Besides helping her spiritually, they help the family with the financial part of the Quinceañera. The gifts brought up at the Presentation of Gifts will include a bible, rosary, and flowers. The flowers will be presented to the Blessed Mother after Communion accompanied by her nephew, Keegan. The bible and rosary are gifts that Liliana will use often in her prayers.
On this day, we have the honor of witnessing Liliana’s commitment to God, and to what God calls her to do and to live; and we by our presence, and hopefully our prayers, support her in her commitment to live as God’s daughter.
We are celebrating as a church community God’s ‘Yes’ to Liliana as she gives herself more fully to live God’s call for her….. All are invited to come to the mass at Our Lady of the Snows on June 29 at 11:00 am to pray for Liliana and witness this beautiful celebration of her 15th birthday (Quinceañera.)
